to whom our fathers would not be obedient, but thrust him from them, and turned back in their hearts unto Egypt,

「可是我們的祖先不聽從他，甚至棄絕他，心裡對埃及戀戀不捨。

我們的祖先不肯聽從他，反而把他推開，他們的心已經轉向了埃及，

我們的祖宗不肯聽從他，倒給推開了，心裏轉向着埃及，

我們的祖先不肯順從，反而棄絕了他，甚至在心裡轉回埃及去，

我列祖弗順而拒之、意欲返埃及、

列祖不順而拒之、欲反埃及、

我列祖弗順從、反拒之、心中欲返伊及、

詎知我列祖非惟不願聽從、反加以背棄、而其心且戀念埃及不置。

“ But our ancestors refused to obey him. Instead, they rejected him and in their hearts turned back to Egypt.

“ But our people refused to obey Moses. They would not accept him. In their hearts, they wished they were back in Egypt.

Our fathers refused to obey him, but thrust him aside, and in their hearts they turned to Egypt,

“ But our ancestors refused to listen to Moses. They rejected him and wanted to return to Egypt.

Our ancestors were unwilling to obey him. Instead, they pushed him aside, and in their hearts turned back to Egypt.

Our fathers were unwilling to be obedient to him; on the contrary they rejected him and turned back to Egypt in their hearts,

whom our fathers would not obey, but rejected. And in their hearts they turned back to Egypt,

Our ancestors were unwilling to obey him, but pushed him away, and in their hearts turned back to Egypt.

To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust[ him] from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

Our ancestors were unwilling to obey him, but pushed him aside and turned back to Egypt in their hearts,

to whom our fathers wouldn’t be obedient, but rejected him, and turned back in their hearts to Egypt,

And wherefore doth Jehovah bring us unto this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be a prey: were it not better for us to return into Egypt?And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt for nought; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic:

and the children of Israel said unto them, Would that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh- pots, when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore hast thou brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

And Gilead’s wife bare him sons; and when his wife’s sons grew up, they drove out Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father’s house; for thou art the son of another woman.

And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to bring us forth out of Egypt?Is not this the word that we spake unto thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it were better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their neck, and hearkened not to thy commandments,and refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them, but hardened their neck, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage. But thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness, and forsookest them not.

So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto Jehovah, that he might fulfil the word of Jehovah, which he spake concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

They angered him also at the waters of Meribah, So that it went ill with Moses for their sakes;Because they were rebellious against his spirit, And he spake unadvisedly with his lips.

And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do ye.Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? and they killed them that showed before of the coming of the Righteous One; of whom ye have now become betrayers and murderers;

in that day I sware unto them, to bring them forth out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands.And I said unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am Jehovah your God.But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me; they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, among which they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.So I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.And I gave them my statutes, and showed them mine ordinances, which if a man do, he shall live in them.Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Jehovah that sanctifieth them.But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they rejected mine ordinances, which if a man keep, he shall live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly profaned. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.

They envied Moses also in the camp, And Aaron the saint of Jehovah.

But he that did his neighbor wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
