文士和祭司长看出这比喻是指着他们说的，当时就想要下手拿他，只是惧怕百姓。

他们想要捉拿他，但是惧怕众人，因为众人认为他是先知。

我们若说‘从人间来的’，所有的百姓都会用石头打死我们，因为他们信约翰是先知。”

可是他们说：“不可在过节的日子，恐怕百姓生乱。”

耶稣天天在圣殿里教导人。祭司长、文士和百姓的领袖都想杀他，但找不出方法来，因为百姓都侧耳听他。

众人因听见耶稣行了这神迹，就去迎接他。法利赛人彼此说：“你们看，你们一事无成，世人都随着他去了。”

于是众人都惊讶，因为看见聋哑的说话，肢残的痊愈，瘸子行走，盲人看见，他们就归荣耀给以色列的神。

就叫使徒来，把他们打了，又吩咐他们不可奉耶稣的名讲道，然后把他们释放了。

彼得却说：“金银我都没有，但我把我有的给你：奉拿撒勒人耶稣基督的名起来行走！”于是彼得拉着他的右手，扶他起来；他的脚和踝骨立刻健壮了，就跳起来，站着，又开始行走。他跟他们进了圣殿，边走边跳，赞美神。百姓都看见他又行走，又赞美神，

鬼被赶出去，哑巴就说出话来。众人都很惊讶，说：“在以色列，从来没有见过这样的事。”

众人都惊奇，也归荣耀给神，并且满心惧怕，说：“我们今日看见不寻常的事了！”

但为避免这事越发在民间传扬，我们必须威吓他们，叫他们不可再奉这名对任何人讲论。”

耶稣说这些话，他的敌人都惭愧了；所有的人因他所做一切荣耀的事都很欢喜。
