It is you who are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God ordained with your fathers, saying to Abraham,‘ And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’

汝為先知弟子、承上帝所賜祖宗之約、謂亞伯拉罕曰、天下兆民、將藉爾裔而受福、

爾為先知之子孫、承天主與列祖所立之約、謂亞伯拉罕曰、天下萬民、將因爾子孫而獲福、

爾曹乃先知之後；天主與我祖立約、亦為爾曹。

And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham,‘ Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’

What the prophets said was meant for you. The covenant God made with your people long ago is yours also. He said to Abraham,‘ All nations on earth will be blessed through your children.’( Genesis 22:18; 26:4)

You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham,‘ And in your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.’

You are the children of those prophets, and you are included in the covenant God promised to your ancestors. For God said to Abraham,‘ Through your descendants all the families on earth will be blessed.’

For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”

And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all the tribes, peoples, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;

The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying,“ All the nations will be blessed in you.”

who are Israelites, to whom belongs the adoption as sons and daughters, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the Law, the temple service, and the promises;whose are the fathers, and from whom is the Christ according to the flesh, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.

“ Brothers, sons of Abraham’s family, and those among you who fear God, to us the message of this salvation has been sent.

You found his heart faithful before You, And made a covenant with him To give him the land of the Canaanite, Of the Hittite and the Amorite, Of the Perizzite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite— To give it to his descendants. And You have fulfilled Your promise, Because You are righteous.

Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith.

Now then, return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not return her, know that you will certainly die, you and all who are yours.”

He also confirmed it to Jacob as a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant,

But God said,“ No, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you shall name him Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.

I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and will give your descendants all these lands; and by your descendants all the nations of the earth shall be blessed,

He has remembered His covenant forever, The word which He commanded to a thousand generations,The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac.Then He confirmed it to Jacob as a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant,Saying,“ To you I will give the land of Canaan As the portion of your inheritance,”When they were only a few people in number, Very few, and strangers in it.And they wandered from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people,He allowed no one to oppress them, And He rebuked kings for their sakes, saying,“ Do not touch My anointed ones, And do not harm My prophets.”

All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, And all the families of the nations will worship before You.

Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say,“ And to seeds,” as one would in referring to many, but rather as in referring to one,“ And to your seed,” that is, Christ.

But Israel reached out his right hand and placed it on the head of Ephraim, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, crossing his hands, although Manasseh was the firstborn.And he blessed Joseph, and said,“ The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, The God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day,The angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the boys; And may my name live on in them, And the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; And may they grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”When Joseph saw that his father placed his right hand on Ephraim’s head, it displeased him; and he grasped his father’s hand to move it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head.And Joseph said to his father,“ Not so, my father, for this one is the firstborn. Place your right hand on his head.”But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know; he also will become a people and he also will be great. However, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations.”So he blessed them that day, saying,“ By you Israel will pronounce blessing, saying,‘ May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh!’ ” And so he put Ephraim before Manasseh.

since Abraham will certainly become a great and mighty nation, and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed?

And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.

To show mercy to our fathers, And to remember His holy covenant,

and do not assume that you can say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father’; for I tell you that God is able, from these stones, to raise up children for Abraham.And the axe is already laid at the root of the trees; therefore, every tree that does not bear good fruit is being cut down and thrown into the fire.

Ascribe to the Lord, you families of the peoples, Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

Then Esau said,“ Is he not rightly named Jacob, for he has betrayed me these two times? He took away my birthright, and behold, now he has taken away my blessing.” And he said,“ Have you not reserved a blessing for me?”But Isaac replied to Esau,“ Behold, I have made him your master, and I have given to him all his relatives as servants; and with grain and new wine I have sustained him. What then can I do for you, my son?”Esau said to his father,“ Do you have only one blessing, my father? Bless me, me as well, my father.” So Esau raised his voice and wept.Then his father Isaac answered and said to him,“ Behold, away from the fertility of the earth shall be your dwelling, And away from the dew of heaven from above.And by your sword you shall live, And you shall serve your brother; But it shall come about when you become restless, That you will break his yoke from your neck.”

For I say that Christ has become a servant to the circumcision in behalf of the truth of God, to confirm the promises given to the fathers,

And I saw another angel flying in midheaven with an eternal gospel to preach to those who live on the earth, and to every nation, tribe, language, and people;

And they* sang a new song, saying,“ Worthy are You to take the scroll and to break its seals; for You were slaughtered, and You purchased people for God with Your blood from every tribe, language, people, and nation.

Then Jacob summoned his sons and said,“ Assemble yourselves, so that I may tell you what will happen to you in the days to come.Gather together and listen, sons of Jacob; Yes, listen to Israel your father.“ Reuben, you are my firstborn, My might and the beginning of my strength, Preeminent in dignity and preeminent in power.Uncontrollable as water, you shall not have preeminence, Because you went up to your father’s bed; Then you defiled it— he went up to my couch.“ Simeon and Levi are brothers; Their swords are implements of violence.May my soul not enter into their council; May my glory not be united with their assembly; For in their anger they killed men, And in their self will they lamed oxen.Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce; And their wrath, for it is cruel. I will scatter them in Jacob, And disperse them among Israel.“ As for you, Judah, your brothers shall praise you; Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; Your father’s sons shall bow down to you.Judah is a lion’s cub; From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He crouches, he lies down as a lion, And as a lion, who dares to stir him up?The scepter will not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes, And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.He ties his foal to the vine, And his donkey’s colt to the choice vine; He washes his garments in wine, And his robes in the blood of grapes.His eyes are dull from wine, And his teeth white from milk.“ Zebulun will reside at the seashore; And he shall be a harbor for ships, And his flank shall be toward Sidon.“ Issachar is a strong donkey, Lying down between the sheepfolds.When he saw that a resting place was good And that the land was pleasant, He bowed his shoulder to carry burdens, And became a slave at forced labor.“ Dan shall judge his people, As one of the tribes of Israel.Dan shall be a serpent in the way, A horned viper in the path, That bites the horse’s heels, So that its rider falls backward.For Your salvation I wait, Lord.“ As for Gad, a band of raiders shall attack him, But he will attack at their heels.“ As for Asher, his food shall be rich, And he will yield royal delicacies.“ Naphtali is a doe let loose; He utters beautiful words.“ Joseph is a fruitful branch, A fruitful branch by a spring; Its branches hang over a wall.The archers provoked him, And shot at him and were hostile toward him;But his bow remained firm, And his arms were agile, From the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob( From there is the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel),From the God of your father who helps you, And by the Almighty who blesses you With blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that lies beneath, Blessings of the breasts and of the womb.The blessings of your father Have surpassed the blessings of my ancestors Up to the furthest boundary of the everlasting hills; May they be on the head of Joseph, And on the top of the head of the one distinguished among his brothers.“ Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; In the morning he devours the prey, And in the evening he divides the spoils.”All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father said to them when he blessed them. He blessed them, every one with the blessing appropriate to him.Then he commanded them and said to them,“ I am about to be gathered to my people; bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is opposite Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought along with the field from Ephron the Hittite as a burial site.There they buried Abraham and his wife Sarah, there they buried Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and there I buried Leah—the field and the cave that is in it, purchased from the sons of Heth.”When Jacob finished commanding his sons, he drew his feet into the bed and breathed his last, and was gathered to his people.

God said further to Abraham,“ Now as for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations.This is My covenant, which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: every male among you shall be circumcised.
