非斯都為了討好猶太人，就對保羅說：「你是否願意回耶路撒冷接受我的審訊？」

他們在那裡住了多日，非斯都對王提起保羅的案子，說：「我這裡有一個囚犯，是前任總督腓利斯留下來的。

非斯都上任三天後，便從凱撒利亞啟程上耶路撒冷。

他見這樣做能取悅猶太人，便又在除酵節期間拘捕了彼得，

為了取悅眾人，彼拉多釋放了巴拉巴，命人將耶穌鞭打後帶出去釘十字架。

亞基帕王對非斯都說：「這人要是沒有向凱撒上訴，已經可以獲釋了。」

這時，非斯都打斷保羅的申辯，大聲說：「保羅，你瘋了！一定是你的學問太大，使你神經錯亂了！」保羅說：「非斯都大人，我沒有瘋。我講的話真實、合理。

懼怕人的必自陷網羅，信靠耶和華的必安穩。

非斯都卻拒絕道：「保羅現在關押在凱撒利亞，我很快會回到那裡。

於是，彼拉多依照他們的要求，釋放了叛亂殺人的囚犯巴拉巴，並把耶穌交給他們任意處置。

不可隨眾行惡。在法庭作證時不可附和多數人，顛倒是非。

我現在是要贏得人的贊同嗎？還是要贏得上帝的贊同？難道我是要討好人嗎？如果我仍舊要討好人，我就不是基督的奴僕了。

後來，保羅租了一間房子，在那裡住了整整兩年，接待所有到訪的人。

「等告你的人來了，我會審理你的案子。」於是下令把保羅關在希律的王府裡。
