People were causing trouble and making a lot of noise. Some of the teachers of the law who were Pharisees stood up. They argued strongly.“ We find nothing wrong with this man,” they said.“ What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”

乃大喧譁、法利賽黨之士子數人、起而爭曰、我見此人無惡、或有神靈、或天使、與之言乎、

眾大譟、𠵽唎㘔同道士子、起而爭曰、我儕見此人無惡、或神、或天使、與之言、我不可與上帝爭、

眾大譟、屬法利賽教之經士、起而爭辯曰、我儕見此人無惡、若有鬼魂或天使與之言、我儕不可敵天主、

於是大聲噪聒、有法利塞黨之經生數人、起而辯曰：『吾儕未見是人有何罪惡；安知無神靈或天神曾與之語耶？』

There was a great uproar, and some of the teachers of the law who were Pharisees stood up and argued vigorously.“ We find nothing wrong with this man,” they said.“ What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”

Then a great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ party stood up and contended sharply,“ We find nothing wrong in this man. What if a spirit or an angel spoke to him?”

So there was a great uproar. Some of the teachers of religious law who were Pharisees jumped up and began to argue forcefully.“ We see nothing wrong with him,” they shouted.“ Perhaps a spirit or an angel spoke to him.”

The shouting grew loud, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ party got up and argued vehemently,“ We find nothing evil in this man. What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”

And a great uproar occurred; and some of the scribes of the Pharisaic party stood up and started arguing heatedly, saying,“ We find nothing wrong with this man; suppose a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”

Then there arose a loud outcry. And the scribes of the Pharisees’ party arose and protested, saying,“ We find no evil in this man; but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.”

And there arose a great clamor: and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ part stood up, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: and what if a spirit hath spoken to him, or an angel?

There was a great commotion, and some experts in the law from the party of the Pharisees stood up and protested strongly,“ We find nothing wrong with this man. What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”

A great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ part stood up, and contended, saying,“ We find no evil in this man. But if a spirit or angel has spoken to him, let’s not fight against God!”

I fell to the ground and heard a voice speak to me.‘ Saul! Saul!’ it said.‘ Why are you opposing me?’

“ I returned to Jerusalem and was praying at the temple. Then it seemed to me that I was dreaming.I saw the Lord speaking to me.‘ Quick!’ he said.‘ Leave Jerusalem at once. The people here will not accept what you tell them about me.’

The crowd there heard the voice. Some said it was thunder. Others said an angel had spoken to Jesus.

They left the room and began to talk with one another.“ Why should this man die or be put in prison?” they said.“ He has done nothing worthy of that!”

Some teachers of the law who were Pharisees were there. They saw Jesus eating with sinners and tax collectors. So they asked his disciples,“ Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

I found out that the charge against him was based on questions about their law. But there was no charge against him worthy of death or prison.

I have found that he hasn’t done anything worthy of death. But he made his appeal to the Emperor. So I decided to send him to Rome.

Pilate spoke to them for the third time.“ Why?” he asked.“ What wrong has this man done? I have found no reason to have him put to death. So I will just have him whipped and let him go.”

But if their plans come from God, you won’t be able to stop these men. You will only find yourselves fighting against God.”

He said to them,“ You brought me this man. You said he was turning the people against the authorities. I have questioned him in front of you. I have found no basis for your charges against him.Herod hasn’t either. So he sent Jesus back to us. As you can see, Jesus has done nothing that is worthy of death.

God gave them the same gift he gave those of us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. So who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?”

When the way you live pleases the Lord, he makes even your enemies live at peace with you.

Then Pilate spoke to the chief priests and the crowd. He announced,“ I find no basis for a charge against this man.”

The Sadducees say that people will not rise from the dead. They don’t believe there are angels or spirits either. But the Pharisees believe all these things.

But the Pharisees and their teachers of the law complained to Jesus’ disciples. They said,“ Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

“ You are a better person than I am,” he said.“ You have treated me well. But I’ve treated you badly.

Are we trying to make the Lord jealous? Are we stronger than he is?

We all fell to the ground. I heard a voice speak to me in the Aramaic language.‘ Saul! Saul!’ it said.‘ Why are you opposing me? It is hard for you to go against what you know is right.’“ Then I asked,‘ Who are you, Lord?’“‘ I am Jesus,’ the Lord replied.‘ I am the one you are opposing.Now get up. Stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you to serve me. And you must tell other people about me. You must tell others that you have seen me today. You must also tell them that I will show myself to you again.I will save you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to themto open their eyes. I want you to turn them from darkness to light. I want you to turn them from Satan’s power to God. I want their sins to be forgiven. They will be forgiven when they believe in me. They will have their place among God’s people.’“ So then, King Agrippa, I obeyed the vision that appeared from heaven.

He fell to the ground. He heard a voice speak to him,“ Saul! Saul! Why are you opposing me?”

I belong to God and serve him. Last night his angel stood beside me.
