有些婦女得回了那些從死人中復活的親人；有些人受酷刑至死也不肯接受釋放，為要得到更美好的復活；

在他們想殺保羅的時候，有消息上報到軍團的千夫長，說全耶路撒冷都混亂了。千夫長立即帶著士兵和幾個百夫長跑下去，到了他們那裡。他們一看見千夫長和士兵們，就停止毆打保羅。

於是彼拉多吩咐把耶穌帶走，鞭打了。

這個人被猶太人抓住，正要被他們殺害的時候，我帶軍隊到場，得知他是羅馬公民，就把他救了出來。

當士兵們用皮條捆上保羅的時候，他對站在旁邊的百夫長說：「你們鞭打一個沒有被定罪的羅馬公民，可以嗎？」百夫長聽了，就來到千夫長面前，報告說：「你要做什麼呢？要知道，這個人是羅馬公民。」千夫長就前來問保羅：「告訴我，你是羅馬公民嗎？」保羅說：「是的。」千夫長說：「我花了一大筆錢，才買到了羅馬公民權。」保羅說：「我生下來就是。」於是那些要拷問他的人，立刻退下了。千夫長既知道他是羅馬公民，又因為捆綁了他，就懼怕起來。

那群人就一同起來反對保羅和賽拉斯。官長們就剝了他們的衣服，下令用棍子打，打了很多棍以後，把他們投進監獄，吩咐獄卒好好地看守。
