So Delilah took new ropes and tied him with them and said to him,“ The Philistines are here, Samson!”( The Philistines were hiding in the bedroom.) But he tore the ropes from his arms as if they were a piece of thread.

So the rulers of the Philistines brought her seven fresh bowstrings which had not been dried and they tied him up with them.

The Philistines captured him and gouged out his eyes. They brought him down to Gaza and bound him in bronze chains. He became a grinder in the prison.

May the Lord grant mercy to the family of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my imprisonment.

I answered them that it was not the custom of the Romans to hand over anyone before the accused had met his accusers face to face and had been given an opportunity to make a defense against the accusation.

They said to him,“ We promise! We will only take you prisoner and hand you over to them. We promise not to kill you.” They tied him up with two brand new ropes and led him up from the cliff.

So Pilate came outside to them and said,“ What accusation do you bring against this man?”They replied,“ If this man were not a criminal, we would not have handed him over to you.”

Paul replied,“ I pray to God that whether in a short or a long time not only you but also all those who are listening to me today could become such as I am, except for these chains.”

for which I suffer hardship to the point of imprisonment as a criminal, but God’s message is not imprisoned!

the commanding officer ordered Paul to be brought back into the barracks. He told them to interrogate Paul by beating him with a lash so that he could find out the reason the crowd was shouting at Paul in this way.When they had stretched him out for the lash, Paul said to the centurion standing nearby,“ Is it legal for you to lash a man who is a Roman citizen without a proper trial?”
