因此我们不丧胆。即使我们外在的人渐渐衰朽，我们内在的人还是日日被更新。原来我们这暂时、轻微的患难，正为我们带来极重无比、永恒的荣耀。我们所注重的不是看得见的，而是看不见的；因为看得见的是暂时的，看不见的却是永恒的。

愿颂赞归于神——我们主耶稣基督的父！他是各样怜悯的父、一切安慰的神。在我们一切的患难中，他安慰我们，使我们自己能用从神所受的安慰去安慰那些在各样患难中的人，因为基督的苦难怎样充充满满临到我们，藉着基督，我们的安慰也照样充充满满。我们如果受患难，是为了你们的安慰和救恩；我们如果受安慰，也是为了你们的安慰；这安慰有功效，使你们能忍耐与我们所受的同样苦难。而且我们对你们的盼望是确定的，因为知道你们怎样在苦难中与我们有份，也怎样在安慰中与我们有份。

他明白之后，就到约翰的母亲玛丽亚家去，这约翰又叫马可。有许多人聚集在那里祷告。彼得敲了外面的门，一个叫罗妲的女仆前来应门。她一认出是彼得的声音，就高兴得顾不上打开门，跑进去告诉大家说，彼得站在门外。他们对罗妲说：“你疯了！”可是她坚持就是如此。他们不住地说：“那是他的天使。”这时，彼得不停地敲门。他们就打开了门，看见是他，都十分惊讶。彼得挥一下手叫他们安静，告诉他们主怎样领他出了监狱，又说：“你们把这些事告诉雅各和弟兄们。”然后他就出发，往别的地方去了。

路司得和以哥念的弟兄们都赞许他。
