After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them:“ Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.

After they had talked it over, Peter got up and spoke to them.“ Brothers,” he said,“ you know that some time ago God chose me. He appointed me to take the good news to the Gentiles. He wanted them to hear the good news and believe.

And after there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them,“ Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe.

At the meeting, after a long discussion, Peter stood and addressed them as follows:“ Brothers, you all know that God chose me from among you some time ago to preach to the Gentiles so that they could hear the Good News and believe.

And after Paul and Barnabas had a heated argument and debate with them, the brothers determined that Paul and Barnabas and some others of them should go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders concerning this issue.

But on the contrary, seeing that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been to the circumcised( for He who was at work for Peter in his apostleship to the circumcised was at work for me also to the Gentiles),and recognizing the grace that had been given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, so that we might go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised.

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? On the contrary:“ Their voice has gone out into all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.”

But get up, go downstairs and accompany them without misgivings, for I have sent them Myself.”

But the things which God previously announced by the mouths of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He has fulfilled in this way.

Yet, the Lord, the God of Israel, chose me from all the household of my father to be king over Israel forever. For He has chosen Judah to be a leader; and in the house of Judah, my father’s house, and among the sons of my father He took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel.Of all my sons( for the Lord has given me many sons), He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.

who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David Your servant, said,‘ Why were the nations insolent, And the peoples plotting in vain?

John replied,“ A person can receive not even one thing unless it has been given to him from heaven.

Do all things without complaining or arguments;

You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.

And they prayed and said,“ You, Lord, who know the hearts of all people, show which one of these two You have chosen

But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of God’s grace.

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.”

And the Spirit told me to go with them without misgivings. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man’s house.And he reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying,‘ Send some men to Joppa and have Simon, who is also called Peter, brought here;and he will speak words to you by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning.And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say,‘ John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’Therefore, if God gave them the same gift as He also gave to us after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying,“ Well then, God has also granted to the Gentiles the repentance that leads to life.”

Then the Lord stretched out His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me,“ Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.

While they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said,“ Set Barnabas and Saul apart for Me for the work to which I have called them.”

Therefore send some men to Joppa and invite Simon, who is also called Peter, to come to you; he is staying at the house of Simon the tanner, by the sea.’So I sent men to you immediately, and you have been kind enough to come. Now then, we are all here present before God to hear everything that you have been commanded by the Lord.”Opening his mouth, Peter said:“ I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality,but in every nation the one who fears Him and does what is right is acceptable to Him.The word which He sent to the sons of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ( He is Lord of all)—you yourselves know the thing that happened throughout Judea, starting from Galilee, after the baptism which John proclaimed.You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.We are witnesses of all the things that He did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They also put Him to death by hanging Him on a cross.God raised Him up on the third day and granted that He be revealed,not to all the people, but to witnesses who had been chosen beforehand by God, that is, to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.And He ordered us to preach to the people, and to testify solemnly that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead.All the prophets testify of Him, that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.”While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message.All the Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had also been poured out on the Gentiles.For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter responded,“ Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?”And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.

Now then go, and I Myself will be with your mouth, and instruct you in what you are to say.”

Now dispatch some men to Joppa and send for a man named Simon, who is also called Peter;he is staying with a tanner named Simon, whose house is by the sea.”

Now it turned into such a sharp disagreement that they separated from one another, and Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus.

But the Lord said to him,“ Go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel;

“ Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.
