不過要寫信給他們：要遠避偶像的汙穢，遠避淫亂、勒死的動物和血。

至於已經相信的外邦人，我們照著決定寫了信，要他們遠避祭過偶像的食物，遠避血和勒死的動物，遠避淫亂。」

你們看世上的以色列人吧，難道那些吃祭物的人不是與祭壇有份的人嗎？那麼，我怎麼說呢？難道說祭過偶像的食物算得了什麼嗎？或說，偶像算得了什麼嗎？不，我是說，外邦人所獻的祭是獻給鬼魔的，不是獻給神的；而我不願意你們成為與鬼魔有份的人。

然而，我有幾件事要責備你，就是在你那裡有些人持守巴蘭的教導。這巴蘭曾教唆巴勒把絆腳石放在以色列子民面前，就是使他們吃祭過偶像的食物，並且行淫亂。

然而，我有事要責備你，就是你容忍那自稱是女先知的婦人耶洗別，教唆並迷惑我的奴僕們行淫亂、吃祭過偶像的食物。

最後，弟兄們，你們要歡喜！願你們得以完全，願你們得到安慰！你們要同心合意，要彼此和睦。這樣，慈愛與平安的神就會與你們同在。

不要因食物的緣故破壞神的工作。一切固然都是潔淨的，但如果有人因吃東西使人絆腳，這就是惡事了。不在吃肉、喝酒、或其他事上使你的弟兄絆倒，這才是好的。

在父神看來，純潔而沒有玷汙的虔誠是這樣的：照顧患難中的孤兒寡婦，並且保守自己不受世界的玷汙。

我知道，並且在主耶穌裡深信：沒有一樣東西本身是不潔淨的。只是，如果有人認為什麼是不潔淨的，對他來說，那就是不潔淨的。如果因食物的緣故使你的弟兄憂傷，你就不再是憑著愛行事了。基督已經替他死了，不可因你的食物毀了他。

不要輕易給人按手，也不要在別人的罪孽上有份，要保守自己純潔。

那位獨一的神能夠保守你們不失足，並且使你們毫無瑕疵、懷著喜樂站在他的榮耀面前；

我在你們那裡有缺乏的時候，也沒有成為任何人的負擔，因為從馬其頓省來的弟兄們補足了我的缺乏。在一切事上我都留意，不讓自己成為你們的負擔，將來也會留意。

至於你們蒙愛的人哪，要在你們至聖的信仰上造就自己，藉著聖靈禱告，保守自己在神的愛中，仰望我們主耶穌基督的憐憫，進入永恆的生命。

向他們告別，說：「如果神願意，我會再回到你們這裡來。」就從以弗所起航了。

另有一個人說：「主啊，我要跟從你，但是請准許我先向我家裡的人告別。」

後來我被告知將有一個針對這個人的陰謀，就立即把他解送到您那裡去，又吩咐原告們到您面前去告他。」
