到了天亮，猶太人同謀起誓，說：「若不先殺保羅就不吃不喝。」這樣同心起誓的有四十多人。他們來見祭司長和長老，說：「我們已經起了一個大誓，若不先殺保羅就不吃甚麼。現在你們和公會要知會千夫長，叫他帶下保羅到你們這裏來，假作要詳細察考他的事；我們已經預備好了，不等他來到跟前就殺他。」保羅的外甥聽見他們設下埋伏，就來到營樓裏告訴保羅。保羅請一個百夫長來，說：「你領這少年人去見千夫長，他有事告訴他。」於是把他領去見千夫長，說：「被囚的保羅請我到他那裏，求我領這少年人來見你；他有事告訴你。」千夫長就拉着他的手，走到一旁，私下問他說：「你有甚麼事告訴我呢？」他說：「猶太人已經約定，要求你明天帶下保羅到公會裏去，假作要詳細查問他的事。你切不要隨從他們；因為他們有四十多人埋伏，已經起誓說，若不先殺保羅就不吃不喝。現在預備好了，只等你應允。」於是千夫長打發少年人走，囑咐他說：「不要告訴人你將這事報給我了。」

但帖撒羅尼迦的猶太人知道保羅又在庇哩亞傳神的道，也就往那裏去，聳動攪擾眾人。當時弟兄們便打發保羅往海邊去，西拉和提摩太仍住在庇哩亞。

亞蘭王與以色列人爭戰，和他的臣僕商議說：「我要在某處某處安營。」神人打發人去見以色列王，說：「你要謹慎，不要從某處經過，因為亞蘭人從那裏下來了。」以色列王差人去窺探神人所告訴所警戒他去的地方，就防備未受其害，不止一兩次。亞蘭王因這事心裏驚疑，召了臣僕來，對他們說：「我們這裏有誰幫助以色列王，你們不指給我嗎？」有一個臣僕說：「我主，我王！無人幫助他，只有以色列中的先知以利沙，將王在臥房所說的話告訴以色列王了。」

保羅來到特庇，又到路司得。在那裏有一個門徒，名叫提摩太，是信主之猶太婦人的兒子，他父親卻是希臘人。路司得和以哥念的弟兄都稱讚他。

但他們的計謀被掃羅知道了。他們又晝夜在城門守候，要殺他。
