到了天亮，犹太人同谋起誓，说：“若不先杀保罗就不吃不喝。”这样同心起誓的有四十多人。他们来见祭司长和长老，说：“我们已经起了一个大誓，若不先杀保罗就不吃什么。现在你们和公会要知会千夫长，叫他带下保罗到你们这里来，假作要详细察考他的事；我们已经预备好了，不等他来到跟前就杀他。”保罗的外甥听见他们设下埋伏，就来到营楼里告诉保罗。保罗请一个百夫长来，说：“你领这少年人去见千夫长，他有事告诉他。”于是把他领去见千夫长，说：“被囚的保罗请我到他那里，求我领这少年人来见你；他有事告诉你。”千夫长就拉着他的手，走到一旁，私下问他说：“你有什么事告诉我呢？”他说：“犹太人已经约定，要求你明天带下保罗到公会里去，假作要详细查问他的事。你切不要随从他们；因为他们有四十多人埋伏，已经起誓说，若不先杀保罗就不吃不喝。现在预备好了，只等你应允。”于是千夫长打发少年人走，嘱咐他说：“不要告诉人你将这事报给我了。”

但帖撒罗尼迦的犹太人知道保罗又在庇哩亚传神的道，也就往那里去，耸动搅扰众人。当时弟兄们便打发保罗往海边去，西拉和提摩太仍住在庇哩亚。

亚兰王与以色列人争战，和他的臣仆商议说：“我要在某处某处安营。”神人打发人去见以色列王，说：“你要谨慎，不要从某处经过，因为亚兰人从那里下来了。”以色列王差人去窥探神人所告诉所警戒他去的地方，就防备未受其害，不止一两次。亚兰王因这事心里惊疑，召了臣仆来，对他们说：“我们这里有谁帮助以色列王，你们不指给我吗？”有一个臣仆说：“我主，我王！无人帮助他，只有以色列中的先知以利沙，将王在卧房所说的话告诉以色列王了。”

保罗来到特庇，又到路司得。在那里有一个门徒，名叫提摩太，是信主之犹太妇人的儿子，他父亲却是希腊人。路司得和以哥念的弟兄都称赞他。

但他们的计谋被扫罗知道了。他们又昼夜在城门守候，要杀他。
