那七日將完，從亞細亞來的猶太人看見保羅在聖殿裏，就煽動所有的羣眾，下手拿住他，

散會以後，有許多猶太人和敬虔的皈依猶太教的人跟從了保羅和巴拿巴。二人對他們講話，勸他們務要恆久倚靠上帝的恩典。

於是亞瑪謝對阿摩司說：「你這先見哪，要逃到猶大地，在那裏過活，在那裏說預言；

我親愛的弟兄們，請聽，上帝豈不是揀選了世上的貧窮人，使他們在信心上富足，並承受他所應許給那些愛他之人的國嗎？你們卻羞辱貧窮的人。欺壓你們，拉你們到公堂去的，不就是這些富有的人嗎？

他們又煽動百姓、長老和文士，就突然來捉拿他，把他帶到議會去，

那時，有從天下各國來的虔誠的猶太人，住在耶路撒冷。

我為他們作證，他們對上帝有熱心，但不是按着真知識。

（只是從來沒有像亞哈的，因他受耶洗別王后的唆使，出賣自己，行了耶和華眼中看為惡的事。

你們因耶和華言語而戰兢的人哪，當聽他的話：「你們的弟兄，就是恨惡你們，因我名趕出你們的，曾說：『願耶和華彰顯榮耀，好讓我們看見你們的喜樂。』但蒙羞的終究是他們！

有人在這城迫害你們，就逃到另一城去。我實在告訴你們，以色列的城鎮，你們還沒有走遍，人子就要來臨。

保羅卻說：「我們是羅馬人，並沒有定罪，他們竟在公眾面前打了我們，又把我們下在監裏；現在要私下趕我們出去嗎？這不行！叫他們自己來領我們出去吧！」差役把這些話回稟官長們；官長們聽見他們是羅馬人，就害怕了，於是來勸他們，領他們出來，請他們離開那城。

弟兄們哪，想一想你們的蒙召，按着人的觀點，有智慧的不多，有能力的不多，有尊貴地位的也不多。但是，上帝揀選了世上愚拙的，為了使有智慧的羞愧；又揀選了世上軟弱的，為了使強壯的羞愧。上帝也揀選了世上卑賤的，被人厭惡的，以及那一無所有的，為要廢掉那樣樣都有的，使凡血肉之軀的，在上帝面前，一個也不能自誇。

眾人就央求耶穌離開他們的地區。

這些猶太人不但殺了主耶穌和先知們，又把我們趕出去。他們令上帝不悅，且與眾人為敵，阻撓我們傳道給外邦人，使他們得救，以致常常惡貫滿盈，但上帝的憤怒終於臨到他們身上。

掃羅也贊同處死他。從那一天開始，耶路撒冷的教會遭受到大迫害，除了使徒以外，眾門徒都分散在猶太和撒瑪利亞各處。
