When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy. They began to contradict what Paul was saying and heaped abuse on him.

這些人卻毀謗自己不明白的事，像沒有理性的野獸一樣憑本能行事，結果自取滅亡。

可是，猶太人反對、毀謗保羅。保羅便抖掉衣服上的灰塵，對他們說：「你們的罪都歸在你們自己頭上，與我無關！從今以後，我要去外族人那裡了。」

大祭司和他的同黨撒都該人看見這情形，妒火中燒，

如今你們不再和他們同流合污，他們覺得奇怪，就用惡言毀謗你們。

可是有些人仍然頑固不信，還當眾毀謗上帝的道。保羅便帶著門徒離開他們，天天在推喇奴的學堂辯論。

阻止我們傳福音給外族人，唯恐他們得救。這些人惡貫滿盈，上帝的烈怒終於臨到了他們頭上。

聖經上說：「上帝所賜、住在我們心裡的聖靈深願我們完全屬於祂。」你們以為這是空談嗎？

但有些來自古利奈、亞歷山大、基利迦和亞細亞、屬於「自由人會堂」的猶太人聯合起來與司提凡辯論。他們無法駁倒司提凡，因為他靠著智慧和聖靈說話。

你們仍然是屬肉體的人，因為你們中間有嫉妒、爭鬥。這豈不證明你們是屬肉體的，行事為人和世人一樣嗎？

他們心裡塞滿了各種不義、邪惡、貪婪、陰險、嫉妒、兇殺、紛爭、詭詐、惡毒；說長道短、

「虛偽的律法教師和法利賽人啊，你們有禍了！因為你們當著人們的面關閉天國之門，自己不進去，也不讓別人進去。

我又看見人的一切勞碌和成就原是出於爭強好勝。這也是虛空，如同捕風。

「那時，大兒子正在田間。當他回來還沒到門口，就聽見家裡傳出奏樂跳舞的聲音。他叫來一個奴僕問個究竟。「奴僕回答說，『你弟弟回來了！你父親因他無災無難地回來，特地宰了那隻肥牛犢。』大兒子很生氣，不肯進去。父親就出來勸他。「他對父親說，『你看，我伺候你這麼多年，從來沒有違背過你的命令，可是你沒有給過我一隻羊羔，讓我和朋友一同歡宴。但你這個兒子在娼妓身上耗盡家財，一回來，你倒為他宰了肥牛犢！』

那些不信主的猶太人卻妒火中燒，他們召集了一群市井無賴，在城裡引發騷亂，闖進耶孫的家企圖把保羅和西拉揪出來示眾。

但如果你們心懷苦毒的嫉妒和自私的野心，就不要自誇說有智慧，也不要違背真理去撒謊。這種智慧並非來自天上，而是從世俗、私慾和魔鬼來的。哪裡有嫉妒和自私的野心，哪裡就會有混亂和各樣的惡事。

你懲罰的手高高舉起，他們卻看不見。願他們因看見你向你子民所發的熱心而感到羞愧。願你為敵人預備的火燒滅他們。

約瑟的哥哥們嫉恨他，他父親卻把這些話記在心裡。

摩西說：「你是怕我的權威受影響嗎？願耶和華的子民都成為先知！願耶和華把祂的靈降在他們身上！」

嫉妒、兇殺、醉酒和荒宴無度等。我從前警告過你們，現在再一次警告你們：行這些事的人必不能承受上帝的國。

因為彼拉多知道他們把耶穌抓來是因為嫉妒。
