這時候，來了一個名叫睚魯的會堂主管。他一見到耶穌，就俯伏在耶穌腳前，

弟兄們，我懇求你們容忍我這勸勉的話，因為我只是簡略地寫信給你們。

耶穌來到拿撒勒，就是他長大的地方。在安息日那天，他照自己的習慣進了會堂，站起來要誦讀經文。有人就把先知以賽亞的書遞給他。他展開書卷，找到一處，那裡寫道：「主的靈在我身上，因為他膏立我去向貧窮的人傳福音，他差派我去宣告：被擄的得釋放，瞎眼的得看見，讓受欺壓的得自由，

實際上，住在耶路撒冷的人和他們的首領們都不認識這一位，也不明白每逢安息日所誦讀的先知們的話，就把他定罪，從而應驗了這些話。

會堂主管克里斯普和他全家都信了主，還有許多哥林多人聽了以後就信了，並且受了洗。

大家都抓住會堂主管索提尼，在審判臺前毆打他。但伽利奧一概不管這些事。

於是他們都被聖靈充滿，就照著聖靈賜給他們的話，開始說出別種語言。

「律法和先知到約翰為止，從此神國的福音被傳揚，人人都在努力爭取進入它。

「各位父老兄弟，現在請聽我的申辯。」

「各位兄弟，關於先祖大衛，我可以明確地告訴你們：他不但死了，也被埋葬了，而且他的墳墓到今天還在我們這裡。

「各位弟兄，那段經文是必須應驗的，就是聖靈藉著大衛的口所預言有關猶大的事。這猶大，領人抓了耶穌；

可是那做先知傳道的是對人說，為要造就、鼓勵和安慰人。

眾人聽了這話，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其他的使徒說：「各位兄弟，我們該做什麼呢？」

如果是勸勉的，就用在勸勉上；分享的，要慷慨；帶領的，要殷勤；憐憫人的，要甘心樂意。

經過了許多辯論，彼得站起來對他們說：「各位弟兄，你們知道前些時候神在你們中間施行揀選，要外邦人藉著我的口聽到福音之道，得以相信。

他走遍了那些地區，用很多的話鼓勵門徒們，就來到希臘，

司提反說：「各位父老兄弟，請聽！我們的先祖亞伯拉罕住哈蘭以前，還在美索不達米亞的時候，榮耀的神向他顯現，
