在凯撒利亚有一个人名叫哥尼流，是意大利营的百夫长。他是个虔诚人，他和全家都敬畏上帝。他多多周济百姓，常常向上帝祷告。

亚伯拉罕的仆人听见他们这些话，就向耶和华俯伏在地。

因为我在人的权下，也有兵在我以下。我对这个说：‘去！’他就去；对那个说：‘来！’他就来；对我的仆人说：‘做这事！’他就去做。”耶稣听了就很惊讶，对跟从的人说：“我实在告诉你们，这么大的信心，就是在以色列，我也没有见过。

亚伯拉罕年纪老迈，耶和华在一切事上都赐福给他。亚伯拉罕对他家中管理他一切产业最老的仆人说：“把你的手放在我大腿底下。我要叫你指着耶和华—天和地的上帝起誓，不要为我儿子娶我所居住的迦南地的女子为妻。你要往我的本地本族去，为我的儿子以撒娶妻。”仆人对他说：“如果那女子不肯跟我来到这地，我必须把你的儿子带回到你出来的地方吗？”亚伯拉罕对他说：“你要谨慎，不可带我儿子回那里去。耶和华—天上的上帝曾带领我离开父家和本族的地，对我说话，向我起誓说：‘我要将这地赐给你的后裔。’他要差遣使者在你面前，你就可以从那里为我儿子娶妻。倘若那女子不肯跟你来，我叫你起的誓就与你无关了，只是你不可带我的儿子回到那里去。”仆人就把手放在他主人亚伯拉罕的大腿底下，为这事向他起誓。那仆人从他主人的骆驼中取了十匹骆驼，他手中也带着他主人各样的贵重物品离开，起身往美索不达米亚去，到了拿鹤的城。

约拿单对拿兵器的青年说：“来，我们过去到那些未受割礼之人的驻军那里，或者耶和华为我们施展能力，因为耶和华使人得胜，不在乎人多人少。”拿兵器的对他说：“随你的心意做吧。你上去，看哪，我一定跟随你，与你同心。”
