當地的人比帖撒羅尼迦人通情達理，非常樂意接受真道，還天天查考聖經，研究這道是否正確。結果有很多人信了，包括不少有名望的希臘婦女和男子。

我親愛的弟兄姊妹，請記住：每個人都要快快地聽，慢慢地說，慢慢地動怒。

那時，你們雖然因為我生病而受累，卻沒有輕視我、嫌棄我，反而接待我，就像接待上帝的天使，接待基督耶穌一樣。

哲士的心得知識，智者的耳求知識。

所以你們要除去所有的污穢和一切的惡習，謙卑地領受那已經栽種在你們心裡、能救你們靈魂的真道。

所以，凡像這小孩子一樣謙卑的人，在天國才是最偉大的。

使智者聽了長學問，明哲聽了得指引；

所以你們當知道，上帝的救恩已經傳給了外族人，他們也必聽。」

你們不要自欺。如果你們有人自以為在世上有智慧，他應當變成愚人，好成為真正的智者。

耶和華上帝感動猶大人，使他們一心遵從王與眾官員奉祂的指示所下的命令。

因此，你們既然已經除去一切惡毒、欺詐、虛偽、嫉妒和毀謗，就要像初生的嬰兒一樣渴慕純淨的靈奶，好不斷成長，直到完全得救。

我實在告訴你們，人若不像小孩子一樣接受上帝的國，絕不能進去。」

對受教者而言，智者的責備猶如金耳環和金飾物。

但我們何必冒死，被這烈火吞噬呢？我們若再次聽到我們的上帝耶和華的聲音，必然喪命。世上有誰像我們一樣聽見永活上帝從火中說話後還能活著呢？你去聽聽我們上帝耶和華所說的話，然後回來告訴我們，我們必聽從、遵行。』「耶和華聽見了你們的話，就對我說，『我聽見了眾人對你說的話，他們所說的都對。但願他們常常敬畏我，遵從我的一切誡命，以便他們和他們的子孫世世代代可以蒙福。

教導智者，他就更有智慧；指教義人，他就更有見識。智慧始於敬畏耶和華，認識至聖者便是明智。

我們不住地感謝上帝，因為你們從我們這裡聽了上帝的道後就接受了，確信這不是人的道理，而是上帝的道。這道正在你們信的人心裡發揮作用。

然而，許多為首的將要殿後，殿後的將要為首。」
