外飾虔誠之貌內實麻木不仁。此類之人、務望吾兒避之若浼。

having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

They will act as if they were serving God. But what they do will show that they have turned their backs on God’s power. Have nothing to do with these people.

They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

The Lord said: Because these people approach Me with their mouths to honor Me with lip-service— yet their hearts are far from Me, and their worship consists of man-made rules learned by rote—

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which appear beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and every impurity.In the same way, on the outside you seem righteous to people, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

They profess to know God, but they deny Him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, and disqualified for any good work.

But if anyone does not provide for his own, that is his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

an instructor of the ignorant, a teacher of the immature, having the full expression of knowledge and truth in the law—you then, who teach another, don’t you teach yourself? You who preach,“ You must not steal”— do you steal?You who say,“ You must not commit adultery”— do you commit adultery? You who detest idols, do you rob their temples?You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?For, as it is written: The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.

“ Now, son of man, your people are talking about you near the city walls and in the doorways of their houses. One person speaks to another, each saying to his brother,‘ Come and hear what the message is that comes from the Lord!’So My people come to you in crowds, sit in front of you, and hear your words, but they don’t obey them. Although they express love with their mouths, their hearts pursue dishonest profit.Yes, to them you are like a singer of love songs who has a beautiful voice and plays skillfully on an instrument. They hear your words, but they don’t obey them.

Reject a divisive person after a first and second warning,

“ Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves.

But reject foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they breed quarrels.

But avoid irreverent, empty speech, for this will produce an even greater measure of godlessness.

and constant disagreement among people whose minds are depraved and deprived of the truth, who imagine that godliness is a way to material gain.

“ Listen to this, house of Jacob— those who are called by the name Israel and have descended from Judah, who swear by the name of Yahweh and declare the God of Israel, but not in truth or righteousness.For they are named after the Holy City, and lean on the God of Israel; His name is Yahweh of Hosts.

Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit.

Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from every brother who walks irresponsibly and not according to the tradition received from us.

Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause dissensions and obstacles contrary to the doctrine you have learned. Avoid them,for such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites. They deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting with smooth talk and flattering words.

And if anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take note of that person; don’t associate with him, so that he may be ashamed.

“ Cry out loudly, don’t hold back! Raise your voice like a trumpet. Tell My people their transgression and the house of Jacob their sins.They seek Me day after day and delight to know My ways, like a nation that does what is right and does not abandon the justice of their God. They ask Me for righteous judgments; they delight in the nearness of God.”“ Why have we fasted, but You have not seen? We have denied ourselves, but You haven’t noticed!”“ Look, you do as you please on the day of your fast, and oppress all your workers.
