Always remember that Jesus Christ, a descendant of King David, was raised from the dead. This is the Good News I preach.

But God released him from the horrors of death and raised him back to life, for death could not keep him in its grip.

And this is the message I proclaim— that the day is coming when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge everyone’s secret life.

So it makes no difference whether I preach or they preach, for we all preach the same message you have already believed.But tell me this— since we preach that Christ rose from the dead, why are some of you saying there will be no resurrection of the dead?For if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised either.And if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your faith is useless.And we apostles would all be lying about God— for we have said that God raised Christ from the grave. But that can’t be true if there is no resurrection of the dead.And if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised.And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins.In that case, all who have died believing in Christ are lost!And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world.But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died.

This is a record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of David and of Abraham:

He called you to salvation when we told you the Good News; now you can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

And he said,“ Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day.

He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line,and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord.

Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it.

But one of the twenty four elders said to me,“ Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

that comes from the glorious Good News entrusted to me by our blessed God.

“ And it is one of King David’s descendants, Jesus, who is God’s promised Savior of Israel!

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.

And I have been chosen as a preacher and apostle to teach the Gentiles this message about faith and truth. I’m not exaggerating— just telling the truth.

Now all glory to God, who is able to make you strong, just as my Good News says. This message about Jesus Christ has revealed his plan for you Gentiles, a plan kept secret from the beginning of time.

But he was a prophet, and he knew God had promised with an oath that one of David’s own descendants would sit on his throne.
