No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.

A soldier does not take part in things that don’t have anything to do with the army. Instead, he tries to please his commanding officer.

No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.

所以，无论是住在身内或住在身外，我们都立了志向要得主的喜悦。

凡参加竞赛的，在各方面都要有节制，他们不过是要得会朽坏的冠冕；我们却是要得不会朽坏的冠冕。所以，我奔跑，不像无目标的；我斗拳，不像打空气的。

他又对另一个人说：“来跟从我！”那人说：“主啊，容许我先回去埋葬我的父亲。”耶稣对他说：“让死人埋葬他们的死人，你只管去传讲神的国。”又有一人说：“主啊，我要跟从你，但容许我先去辞别我家里的人。”耶稣对他说：“手扶着犁向后看的人，不配进神的国。”

但那些想要发财的人就陷在诱惑、罗网和许多无知有害的欲望中，使人沉沦，以致败坏和灭亡。贪财是万恶之根。有人因贪恋钱财而背离信仰，用许多愁苦把自己刺透了。但你这属神的人哪，要逃避这些事；要追求公义、敬虔、信心、爱心、忍耐、温柔。你要为信仰打那美好的仗；要持定永生，你为此被召，也已经在许多见证人面前作了那美好的见证。

官长也要向士兵宣告说：‘谁建了新的房屋尚未奉献，他可以回家去，免得他阵亡，别人去奉献。谁栽植了葡萄园尚未享用所结的果子，他可以回家去，免得他阵亡，别人去享用。谁与女子订了婚尚未迎娶，他可以回家去，免得他阵亡，别人去娶。’
