Do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.

As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him,

“ If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.

And have mercy on those who doubt;save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.

For even if I boast a little too much of our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for destroying you, I will not be ashamed.

“ You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him.You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.

My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back,let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

For such a one, this punishment by the majority is enough,so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him.For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything.Anyone whom you forgive, I also forgive. Indeed, what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ,

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.

you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.

I do not write these things to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children.

Like a gold ring or an ornament of gold is a wise reprover to a listening ear.

Let a righteous man strike me— it is a kindness; let him rebuke me— it is oil for my head; let my head not refuse it. Yet my prayer is continually against their evil deeds.

For this reason I write these things while I am away from you, that when I come I may not have to be severe in my use of the authority that the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.
