And David was unwilling to move the ark of the Lord into the city of David with him; but David took it aside to the house of Obed edom, the Gittite.

He was not willing to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed- Edom the Gittite.

He didn’t want to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed- Edom. Obed- Edom was from Gath.

So David was not willing to take the ark of the Lord into the city of David. But David took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

So David decided not to move the Ark of the Lord into the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed edom of Gath.

So he was not willing to bring the ark of the LORD to the city of David; instead, he diverted it to the house of Obed-edom of Gath.

So David would not move the ark of the Lord with him into the City of David; but David took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

So David would not remove the ark of Jehovah unto him into the city of David; but David carried it aside into the house of Obed- edom the Gittite.

So he was not willing to move the ark of the Lord to the city of David; instead, he took it to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

So David was no longer willing to bring the ark of the LORD to be with him in the City of David. David left it in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

Obed edom had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, and Peullethai the eighth; God had indeed blessed him.Also to his son Shemaiah sons were born who ruled over the house of their father, for they were valiant mighty men.The sons of Shemaiah were Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad, whose brothers, Elihu and Semachiah, were valiant men.All these were of the sons of Obed edom; they and their sons and relatives were able men with strength for the service, sixty two from Obed edom.

Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite,“ Why should you go with us too? Return and stay with your king, since you are a foreigner and an exile as well; return to your own place.

Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed edom, and Jeiel, with musical instruments, harps, and lyres; also Asaph played loud sounding cymbals,

and with them their relatives of the second rank, Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed edom, and Jeiel, the gatekeepers.

And David sent the people out, a third under the command of Joab, a third under the command of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, and a third under the command of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said to the people,“ I myself will certainly go out with you also.”

So David did not take the ark with him to the city of David, but took it aside to the house of Obed edom the Gittite.And the ark of God remained with the family of Obed edom in his house for three months; and the Lord blessed the family of Obed edom and all that he had.

and the Beerothites fled to Gittaim and have lived there as strangers until this day).
