“ You have delivered me from the attacks of the peoples; you have preserved me as the head of nations. People I did not know now serve me,

“ You saved me when people attacked me. You have kept me as the ruler over nations. People I didn’t know serve me now.

“ You delivered me from strife with my people; you kept me as the head of the nations; people whom I had not known served me.

“ You gave me victory over my accusers. You preserved me as the ruler over nations; people I don’t even know now serve me.

You have freed me from the feuds among my people; you have preserved me as head of nations; a people I had not known serve me.

“ You have also delivered me from the strivings of my people; You have kept me as the head of the nations. A people I have not known shall serve me.

Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people; Thou hast kept me to be the head of the nations: A people whom I have not known shall serve me.

You have freed me from the feuds among my people; You have appointed me the head of nations; a people I had not known serve me.

Now it happened afterward that David defeated the Philistines and subdued them; and David took control of the chief city from the hand of the Philistines.And He defeated Moab, and measured them with the line, making them lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and a full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute.Then David defeated Hadadezer, the son of Rehob king of Zobah, as he went to restore his power at the Euphrates River.And David captured from him 1,700 horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers; and David hamstrung almost all the chariot horses, but left enough of them for a hundred chariots.When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David killed twenty two thousand men among the Arameans.Then David put garrisons among the Arameans of Damascus, and the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And the Lord helped David wherever he went.David took the shields of gold which were carried by the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.And from Betah and Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took a very large amount of bronze.Now when Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole army of Hadadezer,Toi sent his son Joram to King David to greet him and bless him, because he had fought Hadadezer and defeated him; for Hadadezer had been at war with Toi. And Joram brought with him articles of silver, gold, and bronze.King David also consecrated these gifts to the Lord, with the silver and gold that he had consecrated from all the nations which he had subdued:from Aram, Moab, the sons of Ammon, the Philistines, Amalek, and from the spoils of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.So David made a name for himself when he returned from killing eighteen thousand Arameans in the Valley of Salt.He also put garrisons in Edom. In all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the Lord helped David wherever he went.

Behold, you will call a nation you do not know, And a nation which does not know you will run to you, Because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel; For He has glorified you.”

Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David; and David became steadily stronger, while the house of Saul became steadily weaker.

And all the people were quarreling throughout the tribes of Israel, saying,“ The king rescued us from the hands of our enemies and saved us from the hands of the Philistines, but now he has fled out of the land from Absalom.

So he turned the hearts of all the men of Judah as one man, so that they sent word to the king, saying,“ Return, you and all your servants.”

And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will only be above, and not be underneath, if you listen to the commandments of the Lord your God which I am commanding you today, to follow them carefully,

Then the people went out to the field against Israel, and the battle took place in the forest of Ephraim.The people of Israel were defeated there by the servants of David, and the slaughter there that day was great, twenty thousand men.For the battle there was spread over the whole countryside, and the forest devoured more people that day than the sword devoured.

The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you put to death by hanging Him on a cross.He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David Your servant, said,‘ Why were the nations insolent, And the peoples plotting in vain?The kings of the earth took their stand, And the rulers were gathered together Against the Lord and against His Christ.’For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel,to do whatever Your hand and purpose predestined to occur.

Ask it of Me, and I will certainly give the nations as Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth as Your possession.

Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said,“ Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.

Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying,“ The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.”

I will sow her for Myself in the land. I will also have compassion on her who had not obtained compassion, And I will say to those who were not My people,‘ You are My people!’ And they will say,‘ You are my God!’ ”

For the nation and the kingdom which will not serve you will perish, And the nations will be utterly ruined.

And to Him was given dominion, Honor, and a kingdom, So that all the peoples, nations, and populations of all languages Might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed.

Again Isaiah says,“ There shall come the root of Jesse, And He who arises to rule over the Gentiles, In Him will the Gentiles hope.”

You have rescued me from the contentions of the people; You have placed me as head of the nations; A people whom I have not known serve me.

Then the woman wisely came to all the people. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri and threw it to Joab. So he blew the trumpet, and they were dispersed from the city, each to his tent. Joab also returned to the king at Jerusalem.

Why are the nations restless And the peoples plotting in vain?The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers conspire together Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,“ Let’s tear their shackles apart And throw their ropes away from us!”He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying,“ But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain.”

Now a worthless man happened to be there whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjaminite; and he blew the trumpet and said,“ We have no share in David, Nor do we have an inheritance in the son of Jesse; Every man to his tents, Israel!”So all the men of Israel withdrew from following David and followed Sheba the son of Bichri; but the men of Judah remained loyal to their king, from the Jordan even to Jerusalem.

May he also rule from sea to sea, And from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.May the nomads of the desert bow before him, And his enemies lick the dust.

Moab is My washbowl; I will throw My sandal over Edom; Shout loud, Philistia, because of Me!”Who will bring me into the besieged city? Who will lead me to Edom?

“ I permitted Myself to be sought by those who did not ask for Me; I permitted Myself to be found by those who did not seek Me. I said,‘ Here am I, here am I,’ To a nation which did not call on My name.

He will judge among the nations, He will fill them with corpses, He will shatter the chief men over a broad country.

as He also says in Hosea:“ I will call those who were not My people,‘ My people,’ And her who was not beloved,‘ beloved.’ ”
