耶和華是我的光，是我的救恩，我還怕誰呢？耶和華是我一生的保障，我還懼怕誰呢？那些作惡者，就是我的敵人、我的仇敵，他們逼近我、要吞噬我肉體的時候，就絆跌、仆倒。儘管有軍兵紮營攻擊我，我的心也不害怕；儘管有戰爭興起臨到我，我依然無所畏懼。

耶和華在我這邊，我就不害怕；人能對我做什麼呢？耶和華在我這邊，作我的幫助者，我就會看見那些恨我之人的下場。投靠耶和華，好過依靠人；

縱有萬千民眾四圍列陣攻擊我，我也不害怕。

大衛聽說了，就派遣約押和全軍的勇士出戰。亞捫人出來，在自己的城門口擺開陣勢；瑣巴和利合的亞蘭人，以及陀伯人和瑪迦人，單獨在郊外擺陣。約押見自己腹背受敵，就從以色列所有精兵中挑選了一部分，擺陣迎戰亞蘭人，其餘的人交在他兄弟亞比篩手下，擺陣迎戰亞捫人。

因此我建議，把以色列全軍從但到比爾-謝巴都招聚到你這裡，他們多如海邊的沙粒；你親自率領出戰，
