Then Abishai son of Zeruiah said to the king,“ Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over and cut off his head.”

“ Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king?” Abishai son of Zeruiah demanded.“ Let me go over and cut off his head!”

約押和他兄弟亞比篩之所以殺押尼珥，是因為押尼珥在基遍殺了他們的兄弟亞撒黑。

大衛問赫人亞希米勒和洗魯雅的兒子約押的兄弟亞比篩：「誰願意跟我到掃羅的營裡？」亞比篩答道：「我願意。」大衛和亞比篩就趁夜間走進掃羅的軍營，發現掃羅正在熟睡，他的矛插在地上，靠近他的頭，押尼珥和其他人睡在他周圍。亞比篩對大衛說：「現在上帝把你的敵人交在你手中了，讓我一矛把他釘在地上，決不用刺第二下。」大衛卻說：「不要殺他，誰殺害耶和華所膏立的王，都難逃罪責。我憑永活的耶和華起誓，耶和華必親手擊殺他。他要麼壽終而死，要麼命喪沙場。我在耶和華面前絕不敢出手傷害祂所膏立的王。我們拿走他旁邊的矛和水瓶吧。」

加利亞的兒子約哈難和在鄉村的眾將領來到米斯巴見基大利，對他說：「亞捫王巴利斯派尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利來殺你，你知道嗎？」亞希甘的兒子基大利卻不相信他們的話。後來，加利亞的兒子約哈難在米斯巴私下對基大利說：「讓我去殺掉尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利吧！沒人會知道。何必讓他來殺害你，以致匯集到你這裡的猶大餘民再度分散、滅亡呢？」但亞希甘的兒子基大利說：「你不可殺他，你說他要殺我這件事不是真的。」

我從未咒詛他們喪命，以致我的口犯罪。住在我帳篷中的人，誰沒飽餐我的肉食呢？

要尊重所有的人，愛主內的弟兄姊妹，敬畏上帝，尊敬君王。
