He added,“ If only someone would appoint me judge in the land. Then anyone who had a grievance or dispute could come to me, and I would make sure he received justice.”

押沙龙又说：“恨不得我作国中的士师！凡有争讼求审判的到我这里来，我必秉公判断。”

押沙龙又说：“恨不得我作这地的审判官！凡有争讼的人可以到我这里来，我必秉公判断。”

押沙龙又说：“恨不得我作这地的审判官！凡有争讼的人可以到我这里来，我必秉公判断。”

他接着会说：“要是我被立为国中的审判官就好了！那样，任何人有申诉都可以来找我，我一定会为他主持公道。”

押沙龙又说：“但愿有人立我作这地的审判官，这样，有案件或诉讼的人，都可以到我这里来，我就给他公平的审判。”

押沙龍又說：『恨不得我在此地做審判官；凡有爭訟求判斷的人到我這裏來，我可秉公判斷。』

押沙龍又說：「但願有人立我作這地的審判官，這樣，任何一個有爭訟案件的人都可以到我這裡來，我必為他秉公辦理。」

又曰、我深願立為士師於斯土、凡有爭端訟事、咸詣我所、我必為之公斷、

又曰、我願為士師於斯土、凡有訟事、咸詣我所、我必代之剖析。

押沙龍又曰、我若如願、得為國中士師、凡為詞訟求判者至我前、我必以公義判斷、

And Absalom would add,“ If only I were appointed judge in the land! Then everyone who has a complaint or case could come to me and I would see that they receive justice.”

Absalom would continue,“ I wish I were appointed judge in the land! Then anyone who has a case or a claim could come to me. I would make sure they are treated fairly.”

Then Absalom would say,“ Oh that I were judge in the land! Then every man with a dispute or cause might come to me, and I would give him justice.”

I wish I were the judge. Then everyone could bring their cases to me for judgment, and I would give them justice!”

He added,“ If only someone would appoint me judge in the land. Then anyone who had a grievance or dispute could come to me, and I would make sure he received justice.”

Moreover, Absalom would say,“ Oh that someone would appoint me judge in the land, then every man who has a lawsuit or claim could come to me, and I would give him justice!”

Moreover Absalom would say,“ Oh, that I were made judge in the land, and everyone who has any suit or cause would come to me; then I would give him justice.”

Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice!

Absalom would then say,“ If only they would make me a judge in the land! Then everyone who had a judicial complaint could come to me and I would make sure he receives a just settlement.”

If only these people were in my power, I would remove Abimelech.” So he said to Abimelech,“ Gather your army and come out.”

Don’t brag about yourself before the king, and don’t stand in the place of the great;

They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, since people are enslaved to whatever defeats them.

Abimelech son of Jerubbaal went to his mother’s brothers at Shechem and spoke to them and to all his maternal grandfather’s clan, saying,“ Please speak in the presence of all the lords of Shechem,‘ Is it better for you that 70 men, all the sons of Jerubbaal, rule over you or that one man rule over you?’ Remember that I am your own flesh and blood.”His mother’s relatives spoke all these words about him in the presence of all the lords of Shechem, and they were favorable to Abimelech, for they said,“ He is our brother.”So they gave him 70 pieces of silver from the temple of Baal-berith. Abimelech hired worthless and reckless men with this money, and they followed him.He went to his father’s house in Ophrah and killed his 70 brothers, the sons of Jerubbaal, on top of a large stone. But Jotham, the youngest son of Jerubbaal, survived, because he hid himself.

Let another praise you, and not your own mouth— a stranger, and not your own lips.

“ When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, don’t recline at the best place, because a more distinguished person than you may have been invited by your host.The one who invited both of you may come and say to you,‘ Give your place to this man,’ and then in humiliation, you will proceed to take the lowest place.“ But when you are invited, go and recline in the lowest place, so that when the one who invited you comes, he will say to you,‘ Friend, move up higher.’ You will then be honored in the presence of all the other guests.For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
