And[ one] told David, saying, Ahithophel[ is] among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

Now David had been told,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” So David prayed,“ Lord, turn Ahithophel’s counsel into foolishness.”

David had been told,“ Ahithophel, along with Absalom, is one of the people making secret plans against you.” So David prayed,“ Lord, make Ahithophel’s advice look foolish.”

And it was told David,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said,“ O Lord, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”

When someone told David that his adviser Ahithophel was now backing Absalom, David prayed,“ O Lord, let Ahithophel give Absalom foolish advice!”

Then someone reported to David,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.”“ LORD,” David pleaded,“ please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!”

Now someone informed David, saying,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said,“ Lord, please make the advice of Ahithophel foolish.”

Then someone told David, saying,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said,“ O Lord, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!”

And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O Jehovah, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

Then someone reported to David:“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.”“ Lord,” David pleaded,“ please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!”

Now David had been told,“ Ahithophel has sided with the conspirators who are with Absalom. So David prayed,“ Make the advice of Ahithophel foolish, O LORD!”

Someone told David, saying,“ Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” David said,“ Yahweh, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”

And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled[ his] ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.

And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite[ is] better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.

This wisdom descendeth not from above, but[ is] earthly, sensual, devilish.

Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up[ his] heel against me.

And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days,[ was] as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so[ was] all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many[ are] they that rise up against me.

With him[ is] strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver[ are] his.He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.

Where[ is] the wise? where[ is] the scribe? where[ is] the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

Surely the princes of Zoan[ are] fools, the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I[ am] the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?Where[ are] they? where[ are] thy wise[ men]? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt,[ even they that are] the stay of the tribes thereof.The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken[ man] staggereth in his vomit.Neither shall there be[ any] work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do.In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform[ it].And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal[ it]: and they shall return[ even] to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them.In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria,[ even] a blessing in the midst of the land:Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed[ be] Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.

Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counsellor, from his city,[ even] from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.

He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform[ their] enterprise.

And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.

They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,And said[ unto them], What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.

I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.

For[ it was] not an enemy[ that] reproached me; then I could have borne[ it]: neither[ was it] he that hated me[ that] did magnify[ himself] against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

How do ye say, We[ are] wise, and the law of the LORD[ is] with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he[ it]; the pen of the scribes[ is] in vain.The wise[ men] are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom[ is] in them?

We took sweet counsel together,[ and] walked unto the house of God in company.Let death seize upon them,[ and] let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness[ is] in their dwellings,[ and] among them.
