非利士人与以色列人交战，以色列人败逃，许多人在基利波山被杀。

他们摆设宴席，坐在地毯上又吃又喝。突然有人大喊：“官长啊，起来擦亮盾牌，备战吧！”

撒母耳把一瓶膏油倒在扫罗的头上，亲吻他，说：“耶和华已经膏立你做祂子民的首领。

我不再修剪，不再锄地，也不再降雨，任由它荒废，长满荆棘和蒺藜。”

谁知道呢？或许祂转念心生怜悯，给你们留下祝福，使你们可以再次向你们的上帝耶和华献上素祭和奠祭。

耶和华殿中的素祭和奠祭都停止了，事奉耶和华的祭司都哀伤。

非利士人与以色列人交战，以色列人败逃，许多人在基利波山被杀。

次日，非利士人来剥阵亡者的衣物，发现扫罗及其众子横尸基利波山，

“愿我出生的那日和怀我的那夜灭没。愿那日一片黑暗，被天上的上帝遗忘，没有阳光照耀。愿那日被黑暗和阴影笼罩，被密云覆盖，被阴暗淹没。愿那夜被幽暗吞噬，不列在年日中，不算在岁月里。愿那夜无人生育，毫无快乐之声。愿那些咒诅白日、能惹动海怪的人，咒诅那夜。愿那夜的晨星昏暗，等不到晨光的出现，看不见黎明的眼帘。因为那夜没有关闭我母胎的门，以致让我看见患难。

“耶和华的天使说，‘要咒诅米罗斯，要重重地咒诅米罗斯的居民，因为他们没有帮助耶和华，没有帮助耶和华攻击强敌。’

愿我出生的那天受咒诅！愿我母亲生我的那天不蒙祝福！愿那告诉我父亲喜得贵子、使他欢喜的人受咒诅！愿那人像被耶和华无情毁灭的城！愿他早晨听见哀鸣，中午听见战争的呐喊，

“主耶和华说，‘它下到阴间的那天，我要使哀声响起，使深渊闭塞，江河止息，洪水停滞。我要使黎巴嫩为它哀哭，田野的树木因它而枯萎。
