掃羅素為英武、在吉破山遺棄其干、雖沐以膏、無異凡民、故願在彼、露不零、雨不降、亦願在彼田無所產、祭品不獻。

“ Mountains of Gilboa, may you have neither dew nor rain, may no showers fall on your terraced fields. For there the shield of the mighty was despised, the shield of Saul— no longer rubbed with oil.

“ Mountains of Gilboa, may no dew or rain fall on you. May no showers fall on your hillside fields. The shield of the mighty king wasn’t respected there. The shield of Saul lies there. It isn’t rubbed with oil anymore.

“ You mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew or rain upon you, nor fields of offerings! For there the shield of the mighty was defiled, the shield of Saul, not anointed with oil.

O mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew or rain upon you, nor fruitful fields producing offerings of grain. For there the shield of the mighty heroes was defiled; the shield of Saul will no longer be anointed with oil.

Mountains of Gilboa, let no dew or rain be on you, or fields of offerings, for there the shield of the mighty was defiled— the shield of Saul, no longer anointed with oil.

You mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew or rain on you, and no fields of offerings; For there the shield of the mighty was defiled and cast away, The shield of Saul was not anointed with oil.

Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

They prepare the table, they set the watch, they eat, they drink: rise up, ye princes, anoint the shield.

Then Samuel took the vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not that Jehovah hath anointed thee to be prince over his inheritance?

and I will lay it waste; it shall not be pruned nor hoed; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

Who knoweth whether he will not turn and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal- offering and a drink- offering unto Jehovah your God?

The meal- offering and the drink- offering are cut off from the house of Jehovah; the priests, Jehovah’s ministers, mourn.

Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa.

Let the day perish wherein I was born, And the night which said, There is a man- child conceived.Let that day be darkness; Let not God from above seek for it, Neither let the light shine upon it.Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it for their own; Let a cloud dwell upon it; Let all that maketh black the day terrify it.As for that night, let thick darkness seize upon it: Let it not rejoice among the days of the year; Let it not come into the number of the months.Lo, let that night be barren; Let no joyful voice come therein.Let them curse it that curse the day, Who are ready to rouse up leviathan.Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark: Let it look for light, but have none; Neither let it behold the eyelids of the morning:Because it shut not up the doors of my mother’s womb, Nor hid trouble from mine eyes.

Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of Jehovah. Curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof, Because they came not to the help of Jehovah, To the help of Jehovah against the mighty.

Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man- child is born unto thee; making him very glad.And let that man be as the cities which Jehovah overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear a cry in the morning, and shouting at noontime;

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In the day when he went down to Sheol I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the rivers thereof; and the great waters were stayed; and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.
