藉著這榮耀和美德，他把那些又寶貴又極大的應許賜給了我們，好使你們能藉著這些應許，逃脫世上因欲望而來的衰朽，成為在神的本性上有份的人。

且由是錫以寶貴豐厚之許、俾爾得脫在世因慾之敗壞、克與夫上帝之性、

許我尊榮景福、不為斯世惡俗所囿、於上帝之性情、是則是傚、

又以己之榮與德、許我以至大至寶之恩、使我儕我儕原文作爾曹賴此得脫斯世由慾而生之敗壞、得與天主同性、

賴斯大榮大德、吾人復受有無上無疆之恩諾、俾吾人脫世俗縱情恣慾之腐敗惡習、得躋於神化之境、而融於天主之性。

Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

He has also given us his very great and valuable promises. He did it so you could share in his nature. You can share in it because you’ve escaped from the evil in the world. This evil is caused by sinful desires.

And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

你们要把心灵更换一新，并且穿上新人。这新人是照着神的形象，在公义和真实的圣洁里创造的。

我必用洁净的水洒在你们身上，你们就洁净了；我必洁净你们的一切污秽，使你们远离所有可憎的像。“‘我必把新心赐给你们，把新灵放在你们里面；我必从你们的肉体中除去石心，把肉心赐给你们。我必把我的灵放在你们里面，使你们遵行我的律例，谨守遵行我的典章。

肉身的父亲照着自己的意思管教我们，只有短暂的日子；唯有神管教我们，是为着我们的好处，使我们在他的圣洁上有分。

我们众人脸上的帕子既然已经揭开，反映主的荣光（“反映主的荣光”或译：“对着镜子看见主的荣光”），就变成主那样的形象，大有荣光。这是主所作成的，他就是那灵。

穿上了新人。这新人照着他的创造者的形象渐渐更新，能够充分认识主。

所以，“主说：你们要从他们中间出来，和他们分开，不可触摸不洁净的东西，我就收纳你们。”“我要作你们的父亲，你们要作我的儿女。这是全能的主说的。”所以，亲爱的，我们有了这些应许，就应该洁净自己，除去身体和心灵上的一切污秽，存着敬畏神的心，达到成圣的地步。

因为他们说虚妄夸大的话，用肉体的私欲和邪荡的事，引诱那些刚刚逃脱了错谬生活的人。他们应许给人自由，自己却作了败坏的奴仆；因为人给谁制伏了，就作谁的奴仆。如果他们因为认识我们的主、救主耶稣基督，可以脱离世上的污秽，后来又在其中被缠住、受制伏，他们末了的景况，就比先前的更不好了。

顺着自己的肉体撒种的，必定从肉体收取败坏；顺着圣灵撒种的，必定从圣灵收取永生。

凡接受他的，就是信他名的人，他就赐给他们权利，成为神的儿女。他们不是从血统生的，不是从肉身的意思生的，也不是从人意生的，而是从神生的。

但是现在耶稣得了更尊贵的职分，正好像他是更美的约的中保，这约是凭着更美的应许立的。如果头一个约没有缺点，就没有寻求另一个约的必要了。可是神指责他们，说：“看哪，主说，日子要到了，我要与以色列家和犹大家订立新约。这新约不像从前我拉他们祖先的手，领他们出埃及的日子与他们所立的约。因为他们没有遵守我的约，我就不理会他们。这是主说的。主说：‘因为在那些日子以后，我要与以色列家所立的约是这样：我要把我的律法放在他们的心思里面，写在他们的心上。我要作他们的神，他们要作我的子民。他们各人必不用教导自己的邻居，和自己的同胞，说：你要认识主。因为所有的人，从最小到最大的，都必认识我。我也要宽恕他们的不义，决不再记着他们的罪恶。’”

因此，他作了新约的中保，藉着他的死，使人在前约之下的过犯得到救赎，就叫那些蒙召的人，得着永远基业的应许。

耶稣基督的仆人和使徒西门．彼得，写信给那靠着我们的神和救主耶稣基督的义，得着和我们同样宝贵信心的人。

好叫你们不再随从人的私欲，只顺从神的旨意，在世上度余下的光阴。因为你们过去随从教外人的心意，行邪淫、私欲、醉酒、荒宴、狂饮和可憎拜偶像的事，时候已经够了。

你们中间的争执和打斗是从哪里来的呢？不是从你们肢体中好斗的私欲来的吗？你们放纵贪欲，如果得不到，就杀人；你们嫉妒，如果一无所得，就打斗争执。你们得不到，因为你们不求；你们求也得不到，因为你们的动机不良，要把所得的耗费在你们的私欲上。

因为神的一切应许，在基督里都是“是”的，为此我们藉着他说“阿们”，使荣耀归于神。

那些应许本来是给亚伯拉罕和他的后裔的。神并没有说“给众后裔”，好像指着多数；而是说“给你的一个后裔”，指着一个，就是基督。

他们是以色列人：嗣子的名分、荣耀、众约、律法、敬拜的礼仪和各样的应许，都是他们的。
