那坐在黑暗中的民眾看到了大光；那坐在死亡之地和死亡陰影中的人們，曙光為他們升起。」

因為誡命是燈，法則是光，出於管教的責備是生命的道路，

耶穌又對眾人說：「我就是世界的光。跟從我的人，絕不會在黑暗裡行走，卻要得到生命的光。」

這裡的人比帖撒羅尼迦的人開明。他們滿心樂意地接受這福音，天天查考經文，要看這些事是否如此。

那信神兒子的，就有這見證在他裡面；那不信神的，就把神當做說謊者，因為他不相信神為自己的兒子所做的見證。

所以，不要與他們同夥。你們從前原是黑暗，但如今在主裡就是光；你們要像屬於光的兒女行走，

耶和華對假神說：「呈上你們的案件！」雅各的王說：「拿出你們的證據！」讓它們拿出證據來，告訴我們將要發生的事吧！至於先前的事，告訴我們究竟是什麼，好讓我們用心思索得以明白事情的結局；或者直接告知我們即將來臨的事，告訴我們後來的事，好讓我們知道你們是神！你們或好或歹做一些事，讓我們一同驚奇觀看吧！

耶和華的律法純全，使人靈魂甦醒；耶和華的法度信實，使無知的人有智慧；耶和華的訓誡正直，使人心歡喜；耶和華的誡命純潔，使人眼目明亮；對耶和華的敬畏是純淨的，存留到永遠；耶和華的法規是真實的，全然公義；

不過，你們如果照著經上那條至尊的律法「要愛鄰如己」完全實行，你們就做得很好了。
