耶和华紧拉着居鲁士的右手，让列国降服在他面前，使君王们的腰带松开；又让门在他面前敞开，使城门也不关闭——耶和华对所膏立的居鲁士如此说：

因为人被高举不是来自东面或西面，也不是来自旷野；

这是守望者们所宣告的裁决，是圣者们所宣布的决定，为要使活人明白：至高者在人的国中掌权，他愿意把国赐给谁就赐给谁，甚至把最卑微的人立在一国之上。’

然而，他心里高举自己，灵里变得刚硬，以致行事狂傲，就从王权的宝座上被废黜，他的尊荣也被夺去了。他从世人中被赶出，他的心变得像兽的心一样，他的住处与野驴在一起，他像牛那样吃牧草，身体被天上的露水湿透，直到他明白：至高神在人的国中掌权，愿意立谁就立谁治理国家。

是他改变时势和时期；是他废王、立王；是他赐智慧给智慧人，赐知识给有悟性的人；
