約蘭命曰、備車、遂備車、以色列王約蘭、猶大王亞哈謝、各乘其車、往迎耶戶、遇於耶斯烈人拿伯之田、約蘭見耶戶則曰、耶戶平安否、曰、爾母耶洗別之邪淫巫術、如是之多、焉能平安乎、約蘭轉車而遁、謂亞哈謝曰、亞哈謝歟、彼叛矣、耶戶彎弓、射中約蘭兩肩之中、箭穿其心而出、仆於車中、耶戶謂其將畢甲曰、以其屍投於耶斯烈人拿伯之田、爾可憶爾我同乘、從其父亞哈後、主以此預言告之曰、我昨日見拿伯之血及其子之血、必於是田報爾、今以其屍投於此田、應主所言、

亞他利雅聞奔走兵與民歡呼之聲、則入主之殿宇民集之處、見王循常例立於臺、群臣與吹角者待於王之左右、國民欣然吹角、亞他利雅乃自裂其衣、呼曰、叛矣、叛矣、祭司耶何耶大命轄軍諸百夫長曰、當逐之出班列之外、凡隨其後者必殺以刀、蓋祭司曰、不可殺斯婦於主之殿宇、遂不阻其行、或作遂執之曳之出由馬門之道至王宮、遂見殺於彼、
