哈薛說：「僕人算甚麼，不過是一條狗，怎麼能行這大事呢？」以利沙說：「耶和華指示我，你必作亞蘭王。」

耶和華對他說：「去吧，從原路回去，往大馬士革的曠野去。到了那裏，你要膏哈薛作亞蘭王，

雅比的兒子沙龍背叛他，在百姓面前擊殺他，篡了他的位。撒迦利雅其餘的事，看哪，都寫在《以色列諸王記》上。這就是耶和華應許耶戶的話：「你的子孫必坐以色列的王位，直到第四代。」這事果然發生了。猶大王烏西雅第三十九年，雅比的兒子沙龍登基，在撒瑪利亞作王一個月。迦底的兒子米拿現從得撒上撒瑪利亞，殺了雅比的兒子沙龍，篡了他的位。

心利進去擊殺他，把他殺死，篡了他的位。這是猶大王亞撒第二十七年的事。

大衛的人對大衛說：「看哪，這日子到了！耶和華曾對你說：『看哪，我要將你的仇敵交在你手裏，你可以照你看為好的對待他。』」大衛就起來，悄悄地割下掃羅外袍的衣角。隨後大衛心中自責，因為他割下了掃羅的衣角。他對他的人說：「耶和華絕不允許我對我的主，耶和華的受膏者做這事，伸手害他，因為他是耶和華的受膏者。」大衛用這話勸阻他的人，不許他們起來害掃羅。掃羅起來，從洞裏出去，預備上路。

尼八的兒子耶羅波安也舉起手來攻擊王。他是所羅門的臣僕，以法蓮支派的洗利達人；他母親是個寡婦，名叫洗魯阿。他舉手攻擊王是因先前所羅門建造米羅，修補他父親大衛城缺口的這件事。耶羅波安是個大有才能的人。所羅門見這青年殷勤，就派他監管約瑟家所有服勞役的工人。那時，耶羅波安出了耶路撒冷，示羅人亞希雅先知在路上遇見他；亞希雅身上穿着一件新衣。田野中只有他們二人，沒有其他的人。亞希雅拿起穿在自己身上的新衣，把它撕成十二片，對耶羅波安說：「你可以拿十片。耶和華－以色列的神如此說：『看哪，我必從所羅門手裏撕裂這國，把十個支派賜給你。我因我僕人大衛和我在以色列眾支派中所選擇的耶路撒冷城的緣故，仍為所羅門留一個支派。因為他們離棄我，敬拜西頓人的女神亞斯她錄、摩押的神明基抹和亞捫人的神明米勒公，沒有像他父親大衛一樣遵從我的道，行我眼中看為正的事，守我的律例典章。但我不從他手裏奪走整個國家，卻使他在活着的日子作君王，是因我所揀選的僕人大衛遵守我的誡命律例。我必從他兒子手裏將王國奪走，賜給你十個支派，只留一個支派給他的兒子，使我僕人大衛在我所選擇立我名的耶路撒冷城那裏，在我面前常有燈光。我選你，使你照你心裏一切所願的作王，成為以色列的王。

比加轄的將軍，利瑪利的兒子比加背叛他，在撒瑪利亞王宮的堡壘殺了他。亞珥歌伯和亞利耶並基列的五十人幫助比加；比加擊殺他，篡了他的位。

猶大王亞撒第三年，巴沙殺了拿答，篡了他的位。

古人有句俗語說：『惡事出於惡人。』我卻不親手加害於你。

耶西就派人去叫他來。他面色紅潤，雙目清秀，容貌俊美。耶和華說：「起來，膏他，因為這就是他了。」撒母耳就用角裏的膏油，在他的兄長中膏了他。從這日起，耶和華的靈就大大感動大衛。撒母耳起身回拉瑪去了。

他在床上圖謀罪孽，定意行不善的道，不憎惡惡事。

耶戶全力拉弓，射中約蘭兩臂中間，箭從心窩穿出，約蘭就仆倒在車上。

禍哉，那些在床上圖謀罪孽、籌劃惡事的人！天一亮，他們因手中有能力就去行惡。

烏西雅的兒子約坦第二十年，以拉的兒子何細亞背叛利瑪利的兒子比加，擊殺他，篡了他的位。

大衛對亞比篩說：「不可殺害他！有誰伸手害耶和華的受膏者而無罪呢？」大衛又說：「我指着永生的耶和華起誓，他或被耶和華擊殺，或死期到了，或出戰陣亡，耶和華絕不允許我伸手害耶和華的受膏者。現在你可以把他頭旁的槍和水壺拿來，我們就走。」

心利見城被攻陷，就進了王宮的堡壘，放火焚燒宮殿，自焚而死。

禍哉！你這未遭毀滅而毀滅人的人，人未以詭詐待你而你以詭詐待人的人！等你行完了毀滅，自己必被毀滅；你行完了詭詐，人必以詭詐待你。
