Then the captain, the king’s right-hand man, responded to the man of God,“ Look, even if the Lord were to make windows in heaven, could this really happen?” Elisha announced,“ You will in fact see it with your own eyes, but you won’t eat any of it.”

The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God,“ Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?”“ You will see it with your own eyes,” answered Elisha,“ but you will not eat any of it!”

The king was leaning on an officer’s arm. The officer spoke to the man of God. The officer said,“ Suppose the Lord opens the sky and pours down food on us. Even if he does, could what you are saying really happen?”“ You will see it with your own eyes,” answered Elisha.“ But you won’t eat any of it!”

Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned said to the man of God,“ If the Lord himself should make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” But he said,“ You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”

The officer assisting the king said to the man of God,“ That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” But Elisha replied,“ You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!”

Then the captain, the king’s right-hand man, responded to the man of God,“ Look, even if the LORD were to make windows in heaven, could this really happen?” Elisha announced,“ You will in fact see it with your own eyes, but you won’t eat any of it.”

The royal officer on whose hand the king was leaning responded to the man of God and said,“ Even if the Lord were to make windows in heaven, could this thing happen?” Then he said,“ Behold, you are going to see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat any of it.”

So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said,“ Look, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” And he said,“ In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”

Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if Jehovah should make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold,[ if] the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see[ it] with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

An officer who was the king’s right-hand man responded to the prophet,“ Look, even if the LORD made it rain by opening holes in the sky, could this happen so soon?” Elisha said,“ Look, you will see it happen with your own eyes, but you will not eat any of the food!”

Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said,“ Behold, if Yahweh made windows in heaven, could this thing be?” He said,“ Behold, you will see it with your eyes, but will not eat of it.”

Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this way,” says the Lord of Hosts.“ See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure.

What then? If some did not believe, will their unbelief cancel God’s faithfulness?

But can He also provide bread or furnish meat for His people?”Therefore, the Lord heard and became furious; then fire broke out against Jacob, and anger flared up against Israel

They constantly tested God and provoked the Holy One of Israel.

But Moses replied,“ I’m in the middle of a people with 600,000 foot soldiers, yet You say,‘ I will give them meat, and they will eat for a month.’If flocks and herds were slaughtered for them, would they have enough? Or if all the fish in the sea were caught for them, would they have enough?”The Lord answered Moses,“ Is the Lord’s power limited? You will see whether or not what I have promised will happen to you.”

And who was He provoked with for 40 years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?And who did He swear to that they would not enter His rest, if not those who disobeyed?So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.

The king had appointed the captain, his right-hand man, to be in charge of the gate, but the people trampled him in the gateway. He died, just as the man of God had predicted when the king came to him.When the man of God had said to the king,“ About this time tomorrow 12 quarts of barley will sell for a shekel and six quarts of fine meal will sell for a shekel at the gate of Samaria,”this captain had answered the man of God,“ Look, even if the Lord were to make windows in heaven, could this really happen?” Elisha had said,“ You will in fact see it with your own eyes, but you won’t eat any of it.”This is what happened to him: the people trampled him in the gateway, and he died.
