There was a great famine in the city; the siege lasted so long that a donkey’s head sold for eighty shekels of silver, and a quarter of a cab of seed pods for five shekels.

There wasn’t enough food anywhere in the city. It was surrounded for so long that people had to weigh out two pounds of silver for a donkey’s head. They had to weigh out two ounces of silver for half a pint of seed pods.

And there was a great famine in Samaria, as they besieged it, until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove’s dung for five shekels of silver.

As a result, there was a great famine in the city. The siege lasted so long that a donkey’s head sold for eighty pieces of silver, and a cup of dove’s dung sold for five pieces of silver.

So there was a severe famine in Samaria, and they continued the siege against it until a donkey’s head sold for thirty-four ounces of silver, and a cup of dove’s dung sold for two ounces of silver.

So there was a severe famine in Samaria; and behold, they kept besieging it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and a fourth of a kab of dove’s dung for five shekels of silver.

王對她說：“到底有甚麼事呢？”她說：“這婦人對我說：‘把你的兒子交出來，今日我們好把他吃了；明天我們可以吃我的兒子。’於是我們把我的兒子煮了，把他吃了。第二日，我對她說：‘把你的兒子交出來，我們好把他吃了。’她卻把她的兒子收藏起來。”

我就說：“唉，主耶和華啊！你看，那些先知常對他們說：‘你們必不會看見刀劍，也必不會有饑荒；因為我耶和華要在這地方賜給你們恆久的平安。’”耶和華對我說：“那些先知借我的名說假預言；我並沒有差遣他們，沒有吩咐他們，也沒有向他們說話。他們對你們所預言的，是虛假的異象、占卜的預兆、虛無的事，和他們自己心裡的詭詐。”因此，耶和華這樣說：“關於那些借我名說預言的先知，我並沒有差遣他們，他們竟說：‘這地必不會有刀劍和饑荒。’那些先知必被刀劍和饑荒滅絕。

四月九日，城裡饑荒非常嚴重，甚至那地的人民都斷了糧食。

我們如果說：‘我們進城去吧！’城裡正有饑荒，我們就要死在那裡。我們如果坐在這裡，也是要死。現在，讓我們去投降亞蘭人的軍隊吧；如果他們饒我們一命，我們就可以活著；如果他們要殺死我們，我們就死吧。”

我斷絕你們的糧食來源（“我斷絕你們的糧食來源”直譯是“我要折斷你們糧食的杖”）以後，十個女人要共用一個爐子給你們烤餅，她們配給定量的餅給你們；你們要吃，卻吃不飽。

四月九日，城裡饑荒非常嚴重，甚至那地的人民都斷了糧食。

耶和華說：“以色列人在我趕他們去的列國中，也要這樣吃不潔淨的食物。”我說：“主耶和華啊！我從來沒有玷污過自己。我從小到現在都沒有吃過已經死去的，或是野獸撕裂的動物，不潔淨的肉從沒有進過我的口。”於是他對我說：“你看，我准你用牛糞代替人糞，你可以在牛糞上烤你的餅。”他又對我說：“人子啊，我要斷絕耶路撒冷的糧食。他們要滿心憂慮，吃配給的口糧；十分驚惶，喝配給的水。

於是以利亞去了，要在亞哈面前出現。那時撒瑪利亞發生十分嚴重的饑荒。
