The king ordered,“ Go, find out where he is, so I can send some men to capture him.” The king was told,“ He is in Dothan.”

于是王说：“你们去看看他在哪里，我要派人把他捉住。”有人告诉他说：“看哪！他正在多坍。”

王曰、往視其人何在、我則遣人執之、或告曰、在多坍、

曰、往哉、觀其所居、我將遣人執之而至。曰、彼在多丹。

王曰、爾往探以利沙於何處、我將遣人擒之、或告之曰、彼在多坍、

“ Go, find out where he is,” the king ordered,“ so I can send men and capture him.” The report came back:“ He is in Dothan.”

“ Go and find out where he is,” the king ordered.“ Then I can send my men and capture him.” The report came back. The officers said,“ He’s in Dothan.”

And he said,“ Go and see where he is, that I may send and seize him.” It was told him,“ Behold, he is in Dothan.”

“ Go and find out where he is,” the king commanded,“ so I can send troops to seize him.” And the report came back:“ Elisha is at Dothan.”

So the king said,“ Go and see where he is, so I can send men to capture him.” When he was told,“ Elisha is in Dothan,”

So he said,“ Go and see where he is, so that I may send men and take him.” And it was told to him, saying,“ Behold, he is in Dothan.”

So he said,“ Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him.” And it was told him, saying,“ Surely he is in Dothan.”

And he said, Go and see where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.

So the king said,“ Go and see where he is, so I can send men to capture him.” When he was told,“ Elisha is in Dothan,”

And he said, Go and spy where he[ is], that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold,[ he is] in Dothan.

He said,“ Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him.” He was told,“ Behold, he is in Dothan.”

The man said,“ They left this area, for I heard them say,‘ Let’s go to Dothan.’” So Joseph went after his brothers and found them at Dothan.

So the chief priests and the Pharisees called the council together and said,“ What are we doing? For this man is performing many miraculous signs.If we allow him to go on in this way, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away our sanctuary and our nation.”Then one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said,“ You know nothing at all!You do not realize that it is more to your advantage to have one man die for the people than for the whole nation to perish.”( Now he did not say this on his own, but because he was high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the Jewish nation,and not for the Jewish nation only, but to gather together into one the children of God who are scattered.)So from that day they planned together to kill him.

He also ordered Jerahmeel, who was one of the royal princes, Seraiah son of Azriel, and Shelemiah son of Abdeel to arrest the scribe Baruch and the prophet Jeremiah. However, the LORD hid them.

He waits in ambush near the villages; in hidden places he kills the innocent. His eyes look for some unfortunate victim.He lies in ambush in a hidden place, like a lion in a thicket; he lies in ambush, waiting to catch the oppressed; he catches the oppressed by pulling in his net.His victims are crushed and beaten down; they are trapped in his sturdy nets.

When morning came, the Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink anything until they had killed Paul.There were more than forty of them who formed this conspiracy.They went to the chief priests and the elders and said,“ We have bound ourselves with a solemn oath not to partake of anything until we have killed Paul.So now you and the council request the commanding officer to bring him down to you, as if you were going to determine his case by conducting a more thorough inquiry. We are ready to kill him before he comes near this place.”But when the son of Paul’s sister heard about the ambush, he came and entered the barracks and told Paul.Paul called one of the centurions and said,“ Take this young man to the commanding officer, for he has something to report to him.”So the centurion took him and brought him to the commanding officer and said,“ The prisoner Paul called me and asked me to bring this young man to you because he has something to tell you.”The commanding officer took him by the hand, withdrew privately, and asked,“ What is it that you want to report to me?”He replied,“ The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as if they were going to inquire more thoroughly about him.So do not let them persuade you to do this, because more than forty of them are lying in ambush for him. They have bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink anything until they have killed him, and now they are ready, waiting for you to agree to their request.”Then the commanding officer sent the young man away, directing him,“ Tell no one that you have reported these things to me.”Then he summoned two of the centurions and said,“ Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea along with seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen by nine o’clock tonight,and provide mounts for Paul to ride so that he may be brought safely to Felix the governor.”He wrote a letter that went like this:Claudius Lysias to His Excellency Governor Felix, greetings.This man was seized by the Jews and they were about to kill him, when I came up with the detachment and rescued him, because I had learned that he was a Roman citizen.

After assembling all the chief priests and experts in the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born.“ In Bethlehem of Judea,” they said,“ for it is written this way by the prophet:‘ And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,are in no way least among the rulers of Judah,for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”Then Herod privately summoned the wise men and determined from them when the star had appeared.He sent them to Bethlehem and said,“ Go and look carefully for the child. When you find him, inform me so that I can go and worship him as well.”

Evil men set an ambush for the godly and try to kill them.But the LORD does not surrender the godly, or allow them to be condemned in a court of law.

Evil men plot against the godly and viciously attack them.The Lord laughs in disgust at them, for he knows that their day is coming.Evil men draw their swords and prepare their bows, to bring down the oppressed and needy, and to slaughter those who are godly.

Go and make further arrangements. Determine precisely where he is and who has seen him there, for I am told that he is extremely cunning.Locate precisely all the places where he hides and return to me with dependable information. Then I will go with you. If he is in the land, I will find him among all the thousands of Judah.”
