從來沒有人像亞哈那樣受妻子耶洗別唆使，一心做耶和華視為惡的事。

耶戶召集了所有的人，對他們說：「亞哈供奉巴力還不夠熱心，我耶戶要更熱心地供奉他。

不可叩拜他們的神明，不可供奉它們，也不可效法他們的行為，要徹底拆毀神像，打碎他們的神柱。

他不但步尼八的兒子耶羅波安的後塵，還娶了西頓王葉巴力的女兒耶洗別為妻，供奉、祭拜巴力。他在撒瑪利亞為巴力建廟，在廟裡為巴力設立祭壇。他還造了亞舍拉神像，所作所為比先前諸王更惹以色列的上帝耶和華發怒。

他妻子耶洗別過來問他：「王為什麼煩悶，不思飲食呢？」亞哈回答說：「我要耶斯列人拿伯將他的葡萄園賣給我，如果他願意，我也可以用別的葡萄園跟他交換，可是他不肯。」耶洗別說：「你忘了自己是以色列王嗎？起來吃飯吧，高興點，我必讓你得到耶斯列人拿伯的葡萄園。」於是，耶洗別以亞哈王的名義寫信，並蓋上王印，送給跟拿伯同居一城的長老和貴族。信上說：「你們要宣告禁食，讓拿伯在百姓中坐首位，叫兩個無賴坐在他對面控告他咒詛上帝和君王，然後把他拉出去用石頭打死。」與拿伯同居一城的長老和貴族接到來信，便依照信裡的指示行事。他們宣告禁食，讓拿伯在百姓中坐首位，又叫兩名無賴當眾作證指控拿伯咒詛上帝和君王。然後眾人把拿伯拖出城外，用石頭打死了他。事情辦好了以後，他們就派人去把拿伯被石頭打死的消息告訴耶洗別。耶洗別接到消息後，就告訴亞哈說：「耶斯列人拿伯已經死了，你去佔他不肯賣給你的葡萄園吧。」

亞哈見了以利亞，說：「我的對頭啊，你又來了！」以利亞說：「我又來了，因為你一心做耶和華視為惡的事。

進入王宮，大吃大喝，然後吩咐部下說：「把那受咒詛的婦人埋了，她畢竟是王的女兒。」

這是因為他犯罪，行耶和華視為惡的事，步耶羅波安後塵，使以色列人陷入罪中。

他效法他父親瑪拿西做耶和華視為惡的事，

你為何不聽從祂的命令？你為何急於掠奪財物，做耶和華視為邪惡的事呢？」

王說：「如果今天沙法的兒子以利沙的頭顱還留在他頸項上，願上帝重重地懲罰我！」王派使者去以利沙那裡。那時，以利沙正與長老們坐在他家中。使者到達之前，以利沙對長老說：「你們看，這兇手派人來斬我的頭。使者到達時，你們要把他關在門外。他後面不就是他主人的腳步聲嗎？」

約蘭問他：「耶戶，你為平安而來嗎？」耶戶答道：「國中到處都是你母親耶洗別的偶像和邪術，怎能平安呢？」

他燒死自己的兒子，獻作祭物；他行邪術，占卜，求問靈媒和巫師，做了許多耶和華視為惡的事，惹耶和華發怒。
