他不但步尼八的儿子耶罗波安的后尘，还娶了西顿王叶巴力的女儿耶洗别为妻，供奉、祭拜巴力。他在撒玛利亚为巴力建庙，在庙里为巴力设立祭坛。他还造了亚舍拉神像，所作所为比先前诸王更惹以色列的上帝耶和华发怒。

他妻子耶洗别过来问他：“王为什么烦闷，不思饮食呢？”亚哈回答说：“我要耶斯列人拿伯将他的葡萄园卖给我，如果他愿意，我也可以用别的葡萄园跟他交换，可是他不肯。”耶洗别说：“你忘了自己是以色列王吗？起来吃饭吧，高兴点，我必让你得到耶斯列人拿伯的葡萄园。”于是，耶洗别以亚哈王的名义写信，并盖上王印，送给跟拿伯同居一城的长老和贵族。信上说：“你们要宣告禁食，让拿伯在百姓中坐首位，叫两个无赖坐在他对面控告他咒诅上帝和君王，然后把他拉出去用石头打死。”与拿伯同居一城的长老和贵族接到来信，便依照信里的指示行事。他们宣告禁食，让拿伯在百姓中坐首位，又叫两名无赖当众作证指控拿伯咒诅上帝和君王。然后众人把拿伯拖出城外，用石头打死了他。事情办好了以后，他们就派人去把拿伯被石头打死的消息告诉耶洗别。耶洗别接到消息后，就告诉亚哈说：“耶斯列人拿伯已经死了，你去占他不肯卖给你的葡萄园吧。”

亚哈见了以利亚，说：“我的对头啊，你又来了！”以利亚说：“我又来了，因为你一心做耶和华视为恶的事。

进入王宫，大吃大喝，然后吩咐部下说：“把那受咒诅的妇人埋了，她毕竟是王的女儿。”

这是因为他犯罪，行耶和华视为恶的事，步耶罗波安后尘，使以色列人陷入罪中。

他效法他父亲玛拿西做耶和华视为恶的事，

你为何不听从祂的命令？你为何急于掠夺财物，做耶和华视为邪恶的事呢？”

王说：“如果今天沙法的儿子以利沙的头颅还留在他颈项上，愿上帝重重地惩罚我！”王派使者去以利沙那里。那时，以利沙正与长老们坐在他家中。使者到达之前，以利沙对长老说：“你们看，这凶手派人来斩我的头。使者到达时，你们要把他关在门外。他后面不就是他主人的脚步声吗？”

约兰问他：“耶户，你为平安而来吗？”耶户答道：“国中到处都是你母亲耶洗别的偶像和邪术，怎能平安呢？”

他烧死自己的儿子，献作祭物；他行邪术，占卜，求问灵媒和巫师，做了许多耶和华视为恶的事，惹耶和华发怒。
