Jehoshaphat asked,“ Is there no prophet of the LORD here that we might seek the LORD’s direction?” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shapat is here; he used to be Elijah’s servant.”

But Jehoshaphat asked,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, through whom we may inquire of the Lord?” An officer of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”

But Jehoshaphat asked,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the Lord here? Can’t we ask the Lord for advice through him?” An officer of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha is here. He’s the son of Shaphat. Elisha used to serve Elijah.”

And Jehoshaphat said,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, through whom we may inquire of the Lord?” Then one of the king of Israel’s servants answered,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.”

But King Jehoshaphat of Judah asked,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord with us? If there is, we can ask the Lord what to do through him.” One of King Joram’s officers replied,“ Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to be Elijah’s personal assistant.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the LORD here? Let’s inquire of the LORD through him.” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shaphat, who used to pour water on Elijah’s hands, is here.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?” And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?” So one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.”

But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah, that we may inquire of Jehovah by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the Lord here? Let’s inquire of Yahweh through him.” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shaphat, who used to pour water on Elijah’s hands, is here.”

But Jehoshaphat said,[ Is there] not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Here[ is] Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Isn’t there a prophet of Yahweh here, that we may inquire of Yahweh by him?” One of the king of Israel’s servants answered,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah, is here.”

But Jehoshaphat asked,“ Is there not a prophet of the LORD still here, that we may ask him?”

Elisha went back and took his pair of oxen and slaughtered them. He cooked the meat over a fire that he made by burning the harness and yoke. He gave the people meat and they ate. Then he got up and followed Elijah and became his assistant.

You call me‘ Teacher’ and‘ Lord,’ and do so correctly, for that is what I am.If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you too ought to wash one another’s feet.

he got up from the meal, removed his outer clothes, took a towel and tied it around himself.He poured water into the washbasin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to dry them with the towel he had wrapped around himself.

The first time you did not carry it; that is why the LORD God attacked us, because we did not ask him about the proper way to carry it.”

and has a reputation for good works: as one who has raised children, practiced hospitality, washed the feet of the saints, helped those in distress– as one who has exhibited all kinds of good works.

So Saul died because he was unfaithful to the LORD and did not obey the LORD’s instructions; he even tried to conjure up underworld spirits.

After Moses the LORD’s servant died, the LORD said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant:

So all the Israelites, the whole army, went up to Bethel. They wept and sat there before the LORD; they did not eat anything that day until evening. They offered up burnt sacrifices and tokens of peace to the LORD.The Israelites asked the LORD( for the ark of God’s covenant was there in those days;Phinehas son of Eleazar, son of Aaron, was serving the LORD in those days),“ Should we once more march out to fight the Benjaminites our brothers, or should we quit?” The LORD said,“ Attack, for tomorrow I will hand them over to you.”

But you know his qualifications, that like a son working with his father, he served with me in advancing the gospel.

All Israel rose up in unison and said,“ Not one of us will go home! Not one of us will return to his house!Now this is what we will do to Gibeah: We will attack the city as the lot dictates.We will take ten of every group of a hundred men from all the tribes of Israel( and a hundred of every group of a thousand, and a thousand of every group of ten thousand) to get supplies for the army. When they arrive in Gibeah of Benjamin they will punish them for the atrocity which they committed in Israel.”So all the men of Israel gathered together at the city as allies.

The men examined some of their provisions, but they failed to ask the LORD’s advice.

Yet he persisted in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who encouraged Israel to sin; he did not turn from them.

From there he traveled to Mount Carmel and then back to Samaria.In the eighteenth year of King Jehoshaphat’s reign over Judah, Ahab’s son Jehoram became king over Israel in Samaria; he ruled for twelve years.

The Israelites went up to Bethel and asked God,“ Who should lead the charge against the Benjaminites?” The LORD said,“ Judah should lead.”

Certainly the sovereign LORD does nothing without first revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.

Not so with you; instead the one who is greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the one who serves.For who is greater, the one who is seated at the table, or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is seated at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.

David asked God,“ Should I march up against the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?” The LORD said to him,“ March up! I will hand them over to you!”

Let a little water be brought so that you may all wash your feet and rest under the tree.

We do not see any signs of God’s presence; there are no longer any prophets and we have no one to tell us how long this will last.

So David again asked God what he should do. This time God told him,“ Don’t march up after them; circle around them and come against them in front of the trees.

The Israelites went up and wept before the LORD until evening. They asked the LORD,“ Should we again march out to fight the Benjaminites, our brothers?” The LORD said,“ Attack them!”
