「你要取小麥、大麥、豆子、紅豆、小米、粗麥，裝在一個器皿裏，為自己做餅；在你側臥的三百九十天吃這餅。你所吃食物的量是每天二十舍客勒，要按時吃。你喝水的量是每天六分之一欣，要按時喝。你要吃這餅像大麥餅一樣，在眾人眼前用人的糞烤它。」耶和華說：「以色列人在我趕他們到的列國中，也必這樣吃不潔淨的食物。」我說：「唉！主耶和華，看哪，我從來未曾被玷污，從幼年到如今沒有吃過自然死的，或被野獸撕裂的，那不潔淨的肉也未曾入我的口。」於是他對我說：「看，我給你牛糞代替人糞，你要在上面烤你的餅。」他又對我說：「人子，看哪，我必斷絕耶路撒冷糧食的供應。他們要帶着憂慮限量吃餅；帶着驚惶限量喝水。他們因缺糧缺水，彼此驚惶，在自己的罪孽中消滅。」

在你中間，父親要吃兒子，兒子要吃父親。我必向你施行審判，將你剩下的人分散四方。

於是西底家王下令，他們就把耶利米交在護衛兵的院中，每天從餅店街取一個餅給他，直到城中所有的餅都用盡了。這樣，耶利米仍逗留在護衛兵的院中。

「萬軍之耶和華如此說：四月的禁食、五月的禁食、七月的禁食和十月的禁食，必成為猶大家的歡喜和快樂，以及美好的節期；所以你們要喜愛誠實與和平。
