Jeremiah 52:4-11
Now it came about in the ninth year of his reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, camped against it, and built a bulwark all around it.So the city was under siege until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah. On the ninth day of the fourth month the famine was so severe in the city that there was no food for the people of the land. Then the city was breached, and all the warriors fled and left the city at night by way of the gate between the two walls which was by the king’s garden, though the Chaldeans were all around the city. And they went by way of the Arabah. But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook Zedekiah in the desert plains of Jericho, and all his army was scattered from him. Then they captured the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he passed sentence on him.And the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and he also slaughtered all the commanders of Judah in Riblah. Then he blinded the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him with bronze shackles and brought him to Babylon and put him in prison until the day of his death.

The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army, with all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his control and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem and all its cities, saying,“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says:‘ Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah and say to him,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Behold, I am handing this city over to the king of Babylon, and he will burn it with fire. And as for you, you will not escape from his hand, for you will assuredly be caught and handed over to him; and you will see the king of Babylon eye to eye, and he will speak with you face to face, and you will go to Babylon.’ ” ’Yet hear the word of the Lord, Zedekiah king of Judah! This is what the Lord says concerning you:‘ You will not die by the sword. You will die in peace; and as spices were burned for your fathers, the former kings who were before you, so they will burn spices for you; and they will mourn for you, crying,“ Oh, my lord!” ’ For I have spoken the word,” declares the Lord. Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke all these words to Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem

Ezekiel 24:1-14
Now the word of the Lord came to me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth of the month, saying,“ Son of man, write the name of the day, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day.Present a parable to the rebellious house and say to them,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Put on the pot, put it on and also pour water into it;Put in it the pieces of meat, Every good piece, the thigh and the shoulder; Fill it with choice bones.Take the choicest of the flock, And also stack wood under the pot. Make it boil vigorously. Also boil its bones in it.”‘ Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ Woe to the bloody city, To the pot in which there is rust And whose rust has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece, Without making a choice. For her blood is in her midst; She placed it on the bare rock; She did not pour it on the ground To cover it with dust.So that it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have put her blood on the bare rock, So that it will not be covered.”Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the wood pile great.Heap on the wood, kindle the fire, Cook the meat thoroughly And mix in the spices, And let the bones be burned up.Then set it empty on its burning coals So that it may be hot And its bronze may glow, And its filthiness may be melted in it, Its rust eliminated. She has wearied Me with work, Yet her great rust has not gone from her; Let her rust be in the fire!In your filthiness is outrageous sin. Because I would have cleansed you, Yet you are not clean, You will not be cleansed from your filthiness again Until I have expended My wrath on you.I, the Lord, have spoken; it is coming and I will act. I will not overlook, I will not pity, and I will not be sorry; according to your ways and according to your deeds I will judge you,” declares the Lord God.’ ”

Ezekiel 4:1-8
“ Now you, son of man, get yourself a brick, place it before you, and inscribe a city on it— Jerusalem. Then lay siege against it, build a siege wall, pile up an assault ramp, set up camps, and place battering rams against it all around. Then get yourself an iron plate and set it up as an iron wall between yourself and the city, and direct your face toward it so that it is under siege, and besiege it. This will be a sign to the house of Israel.“ Then you are to lie down on your left side and put the wrongdoing of the house of Israel on it; you shall bear their wrongdoing for the number of days that you lie on it.For I have assigned you a number of days corresponding to the years of their wrongdoing, 390 days; so you shall bear the wrongdoing of the house of Israel. When you have completed these days, you shall lie down a second time, but on your right side, and bear the wrongdoing of the house of Judah; I have assigned it to you for forty days, a day for each year. Then you shall direct your face toward the siege of Jerusalem with your arm bared, and prophesy against it.Now behold, I will put ropes around you so that you cannot turn from your one side to your other until you have completed the days of your siege.

Nebuchadnezzar the king to all the peoples, nations, and populations of all languages who live in all the earth:“ May your peace be great!I am pleased to declare the signs and miracles that the Most High God has done for me.How great are His signs And how mighty are His miracles! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And His dominion is from generation to generation.“ I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at ease in my house and happy in my palace.I saw a dream and it startled me; and these appearances as I lay on my bed and the visions in my mind kept alarming me.So I gave orders to bring into my presence all the wise men of Babylon, so that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream. Then the soothsayer priests, the sorcerers, the Chaldeans, and the diviners came in and I related the dream to them, but they could not make its interpretation known to me.But finally Daniel came in before me, whose name is Belteshazzar according to the name of my god, and in whom is a spirit of the holy gods; and I related the dream to him, saying,‘ Belteshazzar, chief of the soothsayer priests, since I know that a spirit of the holy gods is in you and no secret baffles you, tell me the visions of my dream which I have seen, along with its interpretation.‘ Now these were the visions in my mind as I lay on my bed: I was looking, and behold, there was a tree in the middle of the earth and its height was great. The tree grew large and became strong And its height reached to the sky, And it was visible to the end of the whole earth. Its foliage was beautiful and its fruit abundant, And in it was food for all. The animals of the field found shade under it, And the birds of the sky lived in its branches, And all living creatures fed from it.‘ I was looking in the visions in my mind as I lay on my bed, and behold, an angelic watcher, a holy one, descended from heaven. He shouted out and spoke as follows:“ Chop down the tree and cut off its branches, Shake off its foliage and scatter its fruit; Let the animals flee from under it And the birds from its branches.Yet leave the stump with its roots in the ground, But with a band of iron and bronze around it In the new grass of the field; And let him be drenched with the dew of heaven, And let him share with the animals in the grass of the earth.Let his mind change from that of a human And let an animal’s mind be given to him, And let seven periods of time pass over him. This sentence is by the decree of the angelic watchers, And the decision is a command of the holy ones, In order that the living may know That the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind, And He grants it to whomever He wishes And sets over it the lowliest of people.”This is the dream that I, King Nebuchadnezzar, have seen. Now you, Belteshazzar, tell me its interpretation, since none of the wise men of my kingdom is able to make known to me the interpretation; but you are able, because a spirit of the holy gods is in you.’
