Jehoiachin king of Judah, his mother, his attendants, his nobles and his officials all surrendered to him. In the eighth year of the reign of the king of Babylon, he took Jehoiachin prisoner.

Jehoiachin, the king of Judah, handed himself over to Nebuchadnezzar. Jehoiachin’s mother did the same thing. And so did all his attendants, nobles and officials. The king of Babylon took Jehoiachin away as his prisoner. It was in the eighth year of Nebuchadnezzar’s rule.

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷把猶大王約雅敬的兒子耶哥尼雅、猶大的官員、技工和工匠擄到巴比倫以後，耶和華使我看見兩筐無花果放在祂的殿前。

以下是尼布甲尼撒擄去的人數：他執政第七年擄去三千零二十三名猶大人；

耶哥尼雅王、太后、宮廷侍臣、猶大和耶路撒冷的官員、技工和工匠被尼布甲尼撒王擄到巴比倫後，耶利米先知從耶路撒冷寄信給被擄之人中倖存的長老、先知和眾民。

猶大王約西亞的兒子約雅敬執政第四年，即巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒元年，耶和華告訴了耶利米有關猶大百姓的事。

「你要對這些悖逆的人說，『你們不明白這比喻的意思嗎？』要告訴他們，巴比倫王攻取了耶路撒冷，把其中的君王和大臣擄到巴比倫，

耶利米說：「以色列的上帝——萬軍之上帝耶和華說，『如果你出去向巴比倫王的將領投降，就可以保住你和你全家的性命，這城也不會被燒毀。但如果你不出去向巴比倫王的將領投降，這城必落在迦勒底人手裡，被付之一炬，你也逃不掉。』」

猶大王約雅斤被擄後第三十七年，即巴比倫王以未·米羅達元年十二月二十五日，巴比倫王恩待約雅斤，釋放了他，

耶和華說：「猶大王約雅敬的兒子哥尼雅啊，我憑我的永恆起誓，即使你是我右手上蓋章的戒指，我也要把你摘下來，交給那些想殺你的人，交給你所懼怕的人，就是巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒和他的迦勒底軍隊。我要把你和你母親趕到異鄉，那裡不是你們的出生之地，卻是葬身之處。你們渴望回到故鄉，卻不能如願以償。」難道哥尼雅是個被人鄙視、無人理睬的破瓶子嗎？為什麼他和他的子孫被趕到陌生之地？大地啊，大地啊，大地啊，要聽耶和華的話！耶和華說：「你要把這人作為無兒無女、一生失敗的人記錄下來，因為他的後裔中無一人能成功地繼承大衛的寶座，統治猶大。」
