He went up to the temple of the Lord with the people of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the priests and the prophets— all the people from the least to the greatest. He read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant, which had been found in the temple of the Lord.

The king had all the words of the Book of the Covenant read to them. The book had been found in the Lord’ s temple.

And the king went up to the house of the Lord, and with him all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the priests and the prophets, all the people, both small and great. And he read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant that had been found in the house of the Lord.

All the people were there, from the youngest to the oldest. He read aloud all the words of the scroll of the covenant that had been discovered in the LORD’s temple.

大祭司希勒家对书记沙番说：“我在耶和华殿里得了律法书。”希勒家将书递给沙番，沙番就看了。

摩西吩咐他们说：“每逢七年的末一年，就在豁免年的定期住棚节的时候，以色列众人来到耶和华你神所选择的地方朝见他。那时，你要在以色列众人面前将这律法念给他们听。要招聚他们男、女、孩子，并城里寄居的，使他们听，使他们学习，好敬畏耶和华你们的神，谨守、遵行这律法的一切话，也使他们未曾晓得这律法的儿女得以听见，学习敬畏耶和华你们的神，在你们过约旦河要得为业之地，存活的日子，常常这样行。”

我又看见死了的人，无论大小，都站在宝座前。案卷展开了，并且另有一卷展开，就是生命册。死了的人都凭着这些案卷所记载的，照他们所行的受审判。

他们带着耶和华的律法书，走遍犹大各城教训百姓。

“将这律法书放在耶和华你们神的约柜旁，可以在那里见证以色列人的不是；

大小都在那里；奴仆脱离主人的辖制。

那日的四分之一站在自己的地方念耶和华他们神的律法书，又四分之一认罪，敬拜耶和华他们的神。

然而我蒙神的帮助，直到今日还站得住，对着尊贵、卑贱、老幼作见证；所讲的并不外乎众先知和摩西所说将来必成的事，

并且使门外的人，无论老少，眼都昏迷；他们摸来摸去，总寻不着房门。

这日子满了，又为所有住书珊城的大小人民在御园的院子里设摆筵席七日。

掳了城内的妇女和其中的大小人口，却没有杀一个，都带着走了。

运到之后，耶和华的手攻击那城，使那城的人大大惊慌，无论大小都生痔疮。

当日，人念摩西的律法书给百姓听，遇见书上写着说，亚扪人和摩押人永不可入神的会；

到了七月，以色列人住在自己的城里。那时，他们如同一人聚集在水门前的宽阔处，请文士以斯拉将耶和华藉摩西传给以色列人的律法书带来。七月初一日，祭司以斯拉将律法书带到听了能明白的男女会众面前。在水门前的宽阔处，从清早到晌午，在众男女、一切听了能明白的人面前读这律法书。众民侧耳而听。文士以斯拉站在为这事特备的木台上。玛他提雅、示玛、亚奈雅、乌利亚、希勒家，和玛西雅站在他的右边；毗大雅、米沙利、玛基雅、哈顺、哈拔大拿、撒迦利亚，和米书兰站在他的左边。以斯拉站在众民以上，在众民眼前展开这书。他一展开，众民就都站起来。以斯拉称颂耶和华至大的神；众民都举手应声说：“阿们！阿们！”就低头，面伏于地，敬拜耶和华。耶书亚、巴尼、示利比、雅悯、亚谷、沙比太、荷第雅、玛西雅、基利他、亚撒利雅、约撒拔、哈难、毗莱雅，和利未人使百姓明白律法；百姓都站在自己的地方。他们清清楚楚地念神的律法书，讲明意思，使百姓明白所念的。

凡不寻求耶和华以色列神的，无论大小、男女，必被治死。

凡敬畏耶和华的，无论大小，主必赐福给他。

约柜里惟有两块石版，就是以色列人出埃及地后，耶和华与他们立约的时候摩西在何烈山所放的。除此以外，并无别物。
