Just as he had done at Bethel, Josiah removed all the shrines at the high places that the kings of Israel had built in the towns of Samaria and that had aroused the Lord’s anger.

Josiah did in the rest of the northern kingdom the same things he had done at Bethel. He removed all the small temples at the high places. He made them“ unclean.” The kings of Israel had built them in the towns of the northern kingdom. The people in those towns had made the Lord very angry.

And Josiah removed all the shrines also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which kings of Israel had made, provoking the Lord to anger. He did to them according to all that he had done at Bethel.

Then Josiah demolished all the buildings at the pagan shrines in the towns of Samaria, just as he had done at Bethel. They had been built by the various kings of Israel and had made the Lord very angry.

Josiah also removed all the shrines of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to anger the LORD. Josiah did the same things to them that he had done at Bethel.

Then Josiah also removed all the houses of the high places which were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had constructed, provoking the Lord to anger; and he did to them just as he had done in Bethel.

约西亚还在玛拿西、以法莲、西缅，远至拿弗他利的各城邑及其周围的荒废之地做了同样的事情。他拆毁祭坛和亚舍拉神像，把偶像磨成粉末，砍掉以色列境内所有的香坛，然后回到耶路撒冷。

当一切都办妥后，所有在场的以色列人就前往犹大各城邑，打碎神柱，砍倒亚舍拉神像，又拆毁犹大、便雅悯、以法莲、玛拿西境内所有的丘坛和祭坛，然后各自返回自己的城邑和家园。

他与亚哈家一样步以色列诸王的后尘，因为他娶了亚哈的女儿为妻，做耶和华视为恶的事。

因为你遵守暗利的恶规，效法亚哈家的恶行，随从他们的计谋，所以我要使你荒凉，让你的居民成为笑柄。你们要蒙受列国的羞辱。”

他烧死自己的儿子，献作祭物；他行邪术，占卜，求问灵媒和巫师，做了许多耶和华视为恶的事，惹耶和华发怒。

祂又对我说：“人子啊，你看见了吗？犹大人的这些可憎行径还算小事吗？他们到处行残暴之事，再三惹我发怒，手拿树枝举向鼻前祭拜偶像。因此，我必愤怒地对待他们，我必不顾惜他们，也不怜悯他们，即使他们大声向我呼求，我也不听。”

他还造了亚舍拉神像，所作所为比先前诸王更惹以色列的上帝耶和华发怒。

信差遵照王的命令带着王和众官员的信走遍以色列和犹大，宣告说：“以色列人啊，你们应当归向亚伯拉罕、以撒和以色列的上帝耶和华，好使祂转向你们这些从亚述王手中逃脱的余民。不要效法你们的祖先和亲族，他们对他们祖先的上帝耶和华不忠，以致耶和华使他们的下场很可怕，正如你们所见的。现在，不要像你们的祖先那样顽固不化；要顺服耶和华，进入祂永远圣洁的圣所，事奉你们的上帝耶和华，好使祂的烈怒转离你们。你们若归向祂，你们的弟兄和儿女必蒙掳走他们之人的怜悯，得以回归此地，因为你们的上帝耶和华有恩典，好怜悯。你们若归向祂，祂必不会转脸不顾你们。”信差将这通告逐城传遍以法莲和玛拿西，直到西布伦，可是那些地方的人却嘲笑、戏弄他们。然而，有些亚设人、玛拿西人和西布伦人谦卑悔改，来到耶路撒冷。

孩子拾柴，父亲点火，妇人揉面做饼向天后献祭，向别的神明奠酒，惹我发怒。耶和华说，‘难道他们是在惹我发怒吗？难道他们不是自害己身，自取羞辱吗？’

耶罗波安又在高岗上修建神庙，任命各样的人做祭司，他们并非利未人。

他们建造丘坛，惹祂发怒；他们竖起神像，令祂愤怒。

以色列人暗中做不义之事，冒犯他们的上帝耶和华。从瞭望塔到坚城，他们在各地建丘坛，

他们把他们的上帝耶和华的诫命抛诸脑后，铸造了两个金牛犊，还造了亚舍拉神像。他们祭拜巴力和天上的万象，把自己的儿女烧死献作祭物。他们占卜，行邪术，出卖自己去做耶和华视为恶的事，惹祂发怒。因此，耶和华非常愤怒，从祂面前赶走以色列人，只留下犹大一个支派。
