Josiah replied,“ Leave it alone. Don’t disturb his bones.” So they did not burn his bones or those of the old prophet from Samaria.

So he said,“ Let him rest. Don’t let anyone disturb his bones.” So they left his bones undisturbed with the bones of the prophet who came from Samaria.

And he said,“ Leave him alone; no one is to disturb his bones.” So they left his bones undisturbed with the bones of the prophet who came from Samaria.

And he said,“ Let him alone; let no one move his bones.” So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet who came from Samaria.

And he said, Let him be; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.

看哪，有一個神人遵照耶和華的話從猶大來到伯特利。耶羅波安正站在壇旁燒香；神人遵照耶和華的話向壇呼叫，說：「壇哪，壇哪！耶和華如此說：『看哪，大衛家必生一個兒子，名叫約西亞，他必將在你上面燒香的丘壇祭司，宰殺在你上面，人的骨頭也必燒在你上面。』」當日，神人設個預兆，說：「這是耶和華說的預兆：『看哪，這壇必破裂，壇上的灰必傾倒出來。』」耶羅波安王聽見神人向伯特利的壇呼叫的話，就從壇上伸手，說：「拿住他！」王向神人所伸的手卻萎縮了，不能彎回。壇也破裂了，壇上的灰傾倒出來，正如神人遵照耶和華的話所設的預兆。王對神人說：「請你為我禱告，向耶和華－你的上帝懇求恩惠，使我的手復原。」於是神人向耶和華懇求，王的手就復原了，如平常一樣。王對神人說：「請你跟我回宮，讓你恢復心力，我必給你賞賜。」神人對王說：「你就是把你一半的王宮給我，我也不跟你進去，也不在這地方吃飯喝水，因為耶和華的話這樣吩咐我說：『不可吃飯喝水，也不可從你去的原路回來。』」於是神人從別的路回去，不從他到伯特利來的原路回去。有一個老先知住在伯特利，他的兒子來，把神人當日在伯特利所做的一切事和他向王所說的話，都告訴了父親。父親對他們說：「神人從哪條路去了呢？」他的兒子都看到從猶大來的神人所去的路。老先知吩咐兒子說：「你們為我備驢。」他們備好了驢，他就騎上，去追神人，遇見神人坐在橡樹底下，就對他說：「你是不是從猶大來的神人？」他說：「是我。」老先知對他說：「請你跟我一起回家吃飯。」神人說：「我不能跟你回去，與你同行，也不能在這地方跟你一起吃飯喝水，因為有耶和華的話吩咐我說：『你在那裏不可吃飯喝水，也不可從你去的原路回來。』」老先知對他說：「我也是先知，和你一樣。有天使遵照耶和華的話對我說：『你去帶他一同回你的家，給他吃飯喝水。』」老先知在欺騙他。於是神人跟老先知回去，在他家裏吃飯喝水。他們坐席的時候，耶和華的話臨到那帶神人回來的先知，他就對從猶大來的神人宣告說：「耶和華如此說：『你既違背耶和華的指示，不遵守耶和華－你上帝的命令，反倒回來，在耶和華禁止你吃飯喝水的地方吃了飯喝了水，因此你的屍體必不得葬在你祖先的墳墓裏。』」
