In the eighteenth year of his reign, King Josiah sent the secretary, Shaphan son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, to the temple of the Lord. He said:

在位之八年、年尚幼、始尋求其祖大衛之天主、十二年、始潔猶大地及耶路撒冷、自其中除諸邱壇、諸亞舍拉、諸偶像、及鎔鑄之形像、王使人毀巴力祭臺、斫高設其上之日像、斫諸亞舍拉、碎諸偶像、及鎔鑄之形像、搗之成粉、撒於祭偶像者之塚、以死祭司之骸骨、焚於偶像之壇、如是潔猶大地及耶路撒冷、在瑪拿西、以法蓮、西緬、延及拿弗他利諸邑、及其四周破壞之處、毀諸祭壇、斫諸亞舍拉、碎諸偶像、搗之成粉、在以色列遍地斫諸日像、乃歸耶路撒冷、○約西亞在位十八年、潔地潔殿之後、遣亞薩利雅子沙番、邑宰瑪西雅、繕寫約亞哈斯子約亞、修葺主其天主之殿、至大祭司希勒家所、以奉於主殿之銀付之、此銀乃守門之利未人、捐自瑪拿西人、以法蓮人、以色列餘民、猶大人、便雅憫人、捐畢、乃歸耶路撒冷、捐畢乃歸耶路撒冷又作及耶路撒冷居民遂以銀付於司理主殿工作者、司理主殿工作者用銀修葺殿宇、使之鞏固、給木工與建造之工役、用以購鑿成之石、並購材木、為作棟梁在猶大列王所毀屬主殿之諸室、其人忠心操作、利未人米拉利族之雅哈、俄巴底統轄之、哥轄族之撒迦利亞、米書蘭、及善於操樂器之利未人、督催百工、兼轄負荷者、督催一切工作者、他利未人、或為繕寫、或為官吏、或為守門者、將所奉於主殿之銀運出時、祭司希勒家偶得摩西所傳主之律法書、希勒家告繕寫沙番曰、我在主殿得律法書、希勒家以書授沙番、沙番攜書至王前、又復命於王曰、凡王所命臣僕者、臣僕遵行、將主殿所貯之銀、傾而出之、付於督工者與工作者、繕寫沙番又奏王曰、祭司希勒家以書授我、沙番遂讀於王前、王聞律法之言、自裂其衣、王乃命祭司希勒家、沙番子亞希干、米迦子亞比頓、繕寫沙番、王之內臣亞撒雅曰、爾往為我、為以色列及猶大之餘民、因此書之言、問於主、我列祖不守主之言、不遵此書所載而行、主必向我大震烈怒、有女先知戶勒大、乃掌禮服者、哈斯拉孫、陀可哈子沙龍之妻、居耶路撒冷第二城中、希勒家及王所命之人、往見之、與之語、告以是意、戶勒大謂之曰、主以色列之天主如是云、遣爾來問我者、爾可告之曰、主如是云、我必降災於此處、及其居民、即讀於王前之書所載諸災、因斯民違棄我、焚香於他神、他神或作異邦之神以其所為、干犯我怒、故我盛怒傾洩於此處、如烈火不熄、猶大王遣爾問我、爾當如是告之曰、主以色列之天主如是云、爾聞斯言、聞我指此處及其居民所言、爾則中心敬服、於我前自卑、裂衣、哭於我前、故我俯聽爾、使爾平康歸爾列祖、歸爾墓中、我所將降於此處及其居民之諸災、不使爾目睹之、此乃主所言、使者返、復言於王、○
