But the people did not listen. Manasseh led them astray, so that they did more evil than the nations the Lord had destroyed before the Israelites.

So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin.

“ And now, our God, what shall we say after this? Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her young under her wings, and you were unwilling!

The wicked strut about on every side When vileness is exalted among the sons of mankind.

Ephraim is oppressed, broken by judgment, Because he was determined to follow man’s command.
