又恐怕你向天舉目，看見耶和華－你的神為天下萬民所擺列的日月星辰，就是天上的萬象，就被誘惑去敬拜它們，事奉它們。

耶戶召集眾百姓，對他們說：「亞哈事奉巴力還不夠熱心，耶戶更要熱心。現在你們召集巴力的眾先知和所有拜巴力的人，以及巴力的眾祭司，都到我這裏來，一個也不可缺少，因為我要給巴力獻大祭；凡不來的必不得活。」耶戶行詭詐，為要消滅拜巴力的人。耶戶說：「要為巴力召集嚴肅會！」於是他們宣告了。

王吩咐希勒家大祭司和副祭司，以及把守殿門的，把那些為巴力和亞舍拉，以及天上萬象所造的器皿，都從耶和華殿裏搬出來，在耶路撒冷外汲淪的田間燒了，把灰拿到伯特利去。從前猶大列王所立拜偶像的祭司，在猶大城鎮的丘壇和耶路撒冷周圍燒香，現在王都廢去，他們是向巴力和日、月、行星，以及天上萬象燒香的人。

因為你遵守暗利的規條，行亞哈家一切所行的，順從他們的計謀；因此，我必使你荒涼，使你的居民遭人嗤笑，你們也必擔當我百姓的羞辱。

他們把所給他們的牛犢預備好了，從早晨到中午，求告巴力的名說：「巴力啊，求你應允我們！」卻沒有聲音，也沒有回應。他們就在所築的壇四圍蹦跳。

他行以色列諸王的道，正如亞哈家所行的，因他娶了亞哈的女兒為妻，行耶和華眼中看為惡的事。

以利亞近前來對眾百姓說：「你們心持二意要到幾時呢？如果耶和華是神，就當順從耶和華；如果是巴力，就當順從巴力。」百姓一言不答。

亞哈謝行亞哈家的道，行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，與亞哈家一樣，因為他是亞哈家的女婿。

他作王第八年，尚且年輕，就尋求他祖先大衛的神。到了十二年，他開始潔淨猶大和耶路撒冷，除掉丘壇、亞舍拉、雕刻的像和鑄造的像。

你們若對我說：我們倚靠耶和華－我們的神，希西家豈不是將神的丘壇和祭壇廢去，並且吩咐猶大和耶路撒冷的人說：你們當在耶路撒冷這壇前敬拜嗎？

希西家豈不是將耶和華的丘壇和祭壇廢去，並且吩咐猶大與耶路撒冷的人說：你們當在一個壇前敬拜，在其上燒香嗎？
