當你們舉目觀看你們的上帝耶和華賜給天下萬民的日、月、星辰等天上萬象時，不要受誘惑去跪拜、供奉它們。

我若見太陽發光，明月在天上移動，

耶戶召集了所有的人，對他們說：「亞哈供奉巴力還不夠熱心，我耶戶要更熱心地供奉他。我要向巴力獻大祭，你們去把巴力的先知和祭司及所有拜巴力的人一個不漏地召來。凡不來的人休想活命。」耶戶這樣做，是想用計殺盡拜巴力的人。耶戶下令召開祭拜巴力的莊嚴聚會，於是他們發出通告。

王吩咐大祭司希勒迦及其副手和殿門守衛清除耶和華殿裡用來祭拜巴力、亞舍拉及天上萬象的一切器具，將其搬到耶路撒冷城外汲淪溪旁的田野燒掉，又把灰燼帶到伯特利。從前，猶大各王任命祭司在猶大各城和耶路撒冷周圍的邱壇燒香。現在，約西亞除掉那些祭司，又除掉向巴力、日、月、星辰及天上萬象燒香的祭司。

因為你遵守暗利的惡規，效法亞哈家的惡行，隨從他們的計謀，所以我要使你荒涼，讓你的居民成為笑柄。你們要蒙受列國的羞辱。」

他們取了公牛預備好，然後從早上到正午不斷地呼求：「巴力啊，求你應允我們！」可是毫無動靜。他們又繞著自己築的祭壇跳個不停。

他與亞哈家一樣步以色列諸王的後塵，因為他娶了亞哈的女兒為妻，做耶和華視為惡的事。

以利亞走到眾人面前說：「你們三心二意要到什麼時候呢？如果耶和華是上帝，你們當跟從祂；如果巴力是上帝，你們就跟從他吧！」他們都默不作聲。

亞哈謝是亞哈家的女婿，他步亞哈家的後塵，做耶和華視為惡的事。

他執政第八年，雖然還年幼，卻開始尋求他祖先大衛的上帝。他執政第十二年，開始清除猶大和耶路撒冷的邱壇、亞舍拉神像、雕刻和鑄造的偶像。

也許你會說，『我們倚靠我們的上帝耶和華。』希西迦不是拆除了祂的廟宇和祭壇，又吩咐猶大和耶路撒冷的人要在耶路撒冷的祭壇前敬拜祂嗎？

這希西迦不是曾經廢掉耶和華的邱壇和祭壇，吩咐猶大人和耶路撒冷人只在一個祭壇前敬拜，在祭壇上燒香嗎？
